How to build my first rig.

After much deliberation I think I am going to buy the components and fit them together myself. I have seen this done before, and even helped in the past but I have allways been somewhat uneazey with the thought of doing this myself.

If anyone could offer some friendly advice on things I should look out for whilst putting it together, tips etc would be very welcome. Obviously ill be doing my own research into this too, but the OC community seems to be more then savvi with this

not sure how I missed that sticky ill give that a good read through now. The good thing is like you just mentioned I can have my old pc online if i run into a problem

It's easier than it looks. Second or third time through anyway

Basically if you can put together a lego model, you can build a PC. It's mostly knowing what goes in where and what little things to remember - like always using standoffs

The main thing which worries me is blowing the component because of my own fault. For example i know the mobo can be blown if not kept away from static. I guess its a case of been overly careful throughout the process.

Actually, putting the components together seems easy enough, would I have to configure the computers bios after fitting all the components together though ?

If you want everything to run at stock the bios will configure eveything it needs to by itself and you just need to install the operating system.

If its your first time i recommend reading online as much as you can about anything you are unsure about or things that you've heard and not sure on what it means, etc. That way you understand whats important in a build and what isn't. Also research what components will work well together (looking at overclockers builds is quite useful for this and people's sigs). I've just finished my first build (in my sig) and its basically a case of taking your time and a fair bit of reading prior to buying. That was my experience anyways Remember theres always people here on these forums who are happy to help if you do get stuck, excellent community.
