How To Buy And Sell A BMW E46 M3 For Profit Without Really Trying

I think what's most comedy is the stark difference between the picture the previous owner put on Craigslist and the actual condition of the car.

You should have carried on reading that paragraph:

ie, he's joking.

Haha, wow that shows how years of BMW ownership combined with internet access have turned me into a complete cynic. I take it all back! :D

It's just like Wheeler Dealers really. I love watching that programme but I just pay no attention to the "profit" because it never factors in how much it would cost to pay a gifted mechanic like Edd with a huge personal workshop to do the work.

Or the cost of importing cars from the US, which they always seem to overlook - VAT and duty, that is, not the cost of shipping.

Makes for easy viewing though :) It is, ultimately, just a show about doing cars up rather than making money, I think.

Looks like a fantastic argument for not buying a shed. He did all that work to it and after allowing for the cost of the work ended up spending less than a grand less than he would have done had he just bought a really nice one in the first place.

So there we go, proof that it's a waste of time fishing at the bottom of the pond :p

Even still a really nice one will still not be in as good condition as a done up tatty car. As long as the engine and box are in good nick you are left with a decent packet to get freshly painted bumpers, brand new exterior trim, redo worn interior trims, service everything to your standard. Replace worn out rubber items which go regardless of how many miles. Obviously some sheds are past saving but ones like in the OP are perfect examples of what can be done. Plus if like me you enjoy tinkering with cars then that portion of the ownership is priceless.

After I arranged a tow and chatted with the European tow truck driver for an hour (who was a huge BMW fan) about how the United States got royally shafted with the E36 M3, this is what I was left with, which you would know if you followed me on twitter:

E36?

He does love the polish...
