Scrub said potat....then oil rubbed all over....next salt on top and rub all over...stab!! microwave 5mins....oven a further 10! you wont do it any other way once you've done it that way trust me
its a plan :D

My take.

1) Go fork mad on it, lots of holes.
2) Microwave on full for 10 mins, turning upside down half way through.
3) On a plate, dribble any cheap oil over it and spin it round a bit to coat it.
4) In the oven straight on the rack at the top at 200 degrees for 20 mins, 30 if large.
5) Cut an axe wound of the middle and drop in a knob of the margerine or butter of your choice.

Bulletproof.

Once cooked get them under the grill, Melt your butter in & mash it up.
Then stick some cheese on and heat some beans.
Poor beans over it all and and you have one of the best belly warmers going.

Note.
Real men eat the skins ;)

I'm not buying that.

That won't make a potato bulletproof at all

Oven cook them, You don't even need oil for them to go crispy. Hate to think how crispy oiled jackets are.

I normally microwave the spud for 8 minutes, then whack it at the top of my oven, that's been warming up on the highest heat for 10 minutes and leave it until crispy as hell.

wrap it in foil aswell if its going in the oven :)

pierce the Potatoe a few times and stic ka skewer through the middle and coat with a little olive oil and black pepper then "loosely" rap in tin foil (shiny side in).

as said above cook at 180-190c for about 1h30-2h.

ok going for take 2. It was part microwave, part oven last time. Going for oven only this time. They're pretty small potatos so im reckoning about 1hr 20 minutes?

Even better way, wrapped in tin foil, chuck it into a coal fire for about 2 hours.

Oh, stab holes in it with a fork !

My dad insisted to forget about the foil, as its how they used to cook it when he was a kid, just straight on the coals. Tried it for myself and it was lovely, the skin wasnt very edible though :p

seen on some cooking program... Once its cooked, spoon out of the potato goodness inside, into a bowl, mixed with grated cheese and bits of bacon, and put back into the skins. I tried it...and its fantastic :D

Can we not have a thread about cooking without someone mentioning the godawful 'M' word.

It's a rotten invention and has no place in the preparation of an enjoyable meal (other than maybe a last minute defrost)
