It's a Pro 450 model - and the symptoms indicate the capacitators have blown (apparently it's a common problem for that model). I've been reading that once parts have been sourced it's a relativly easy problem to fix, but I have no idea whatsoever about repairing monitors.

A lad had been interested in paying for the delivery charge but he's not got back to me yet. Because of it's weight it's going to cost £20 to courier around to you (Coventry?).
 
How comes you cant put a pc screen in the bin?

Dont the pc parts you dump at these places get sent to india where people get paid penuts to extract the gold and valuble metals out of them and the process's used result in them breathing in a lot of toxic fumes? A program i had to watch in school some time ago. Just a random thing i thougth id add in lol.
 
In Ireland at least there's a recycling fee on every piece of electrical equipment you buy but I'm not sure if it goes towards recycling the old hardware you replacing or guaranteeing the recycling of your newly bought hardware, I think it's the former though for some reason.

Of course this doesn't really help the op much seeing as they call Liverpool home.

Any local electrical shop that would take it off your hands? Probably charge a fee though. Recycling should be free.
 
A few suggestions.
your local tip should have a facilty to take this where they can recycle it.
dumping it in the bin generally won't get it recycled, it will end up in landfill and poison countless generations..

If you buy a new monitor, the vendor is might take the old monitor (true for white goods, and I think it extends to all leccy goods).
freecycle it.

ah, I think I'll leave it then, I was hoping it'd just be a case of change the vga port or replacing a fuse, probly to complicated.

If you take it to work they should dispose of it for you, is it ilegal to put it in a skip?
