Morning folks

Just to see if any of you have tips on how to fight tiredness, work in an office but things at work are kinda quiet, for the past few days i've been coming in and finding myself nodding off after half an hour, dunno if its something wrong with me or i'm just in a different frame of mind cause i know were winding down for christmas.....any tips on how to keep yourself awake would be good right nnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooo....................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...:D

its a reasonably new job for me, started last june after going for an internal job vacancy, its a good job too but the work i am doing is in early an early stage so things are real slow.

Never been a coffee fan, i usually get a can of reb bull or something but drinking that stuff all the time cant be good for your heart:D

I spent about 3 months sat in a dead office trying to find the perfect cure. Never did find anything that kept the tiredness away for longer than about 15 minutes, fruit seems to be the best.

Try not having any sugar in your tea or coffee, no big lunch-time meal (smaller and in two portions is better) and, if possible, reducing how much bread you have in your lunch (easier said than done, I know!). I did all of those to combat falling asleep at work in the afternoons and I no longer have a problem.

Oh, and get more sleep at night!

its probably old age catching up me thinks...i usually get about 6 hours sleep a night which i think is about right, i get up at 5:40 am right enough so i can make it into work for 7 am. I was an engineer before i got this job so you were usually busy doing something to keep you awake and if you weren't busy you could always find somewhere for a little shut eye

Light a match, blow it out, and put the hot ember on your wrist.

OR

Drink a large amount of liquid.

OR

Sugar.

OR

A Cold Shower.

OR

Run outside naked.

OR

...run out of ideas, sorry.

Go to bed earlier, drink plenty water eat some fruit rather than sugery snacks, get up from your desk and have a really good stretch, finally stay off the caffine.

6 hours is definately not enough for me. I can't function properly on any less than 7 (preferably at least 8).

if i was to get 8 hours a night that would mean me going to bed just before 10pm and considering i dont really get home until 5pm it just doesnt seem as if i have much time for myself, the reason i put it down to me getting older is 5 years ago i used to manage fine on about 5 hours a night, things have changed right enough, i'm 29 now and have a 2 year old so that probably contributes to my tiredness:D

1. Lots of sugar
2. Caffeine, but not too much or your ticker will blow its cogs.
3. Run freezing cold water over your wrists for 30 seconds to a minute and splash face with cold water.
4. Drink a lot of water, again not too much or you'll become ill.

Seen a few of you have said about drinking lots of water, what does that actually do to keep you awake though, apart from having to dash to the lavvy every 10 minutes:D

When I work regular hours I'm usually more than happy to aim to hit the sack sometime between 10-11pm. Maybe I just like sleeping too much. :D

When I find myself staying up very late it's often because I'm not enjoying my job, thus going to bed is like making the next day arrive faster, if you see what I mean (thus I put it off as long as possible).

ideally need 9 - 10 hours

usually get 8 hours

very grumpy if i get less than 7

If you find yourself nodding off try sticking your fingers into a live socket or in the toaster that should give you a quick 'pick me up' :D
