How to find a webpage developer?

What is it you want doing?

Why do you want them working a few hours a month?

For that money you could probably get a freelance web dev to whip you up a unique design for a Content Management System and implement it for you.

Well, I set up the site and have a friend that updates the front page, but it's quite time consuming as there's no auto update type CMS system.

So I'm trying to understand how best to progress it really.
Do I pay someone £500 to setup a front page with CMS that integrates with forum etc, or do I pay someone £500 over a year to provide updates.

I setup the phpbb forum and that was easy enough for me to do, but integrating it into a frontpage CMS system... where do I start?

The integration is what might cost you more. But I would say £500 is enough for a freelancers time to implement a CMS that will allow you to update the front page.

What does the integration facilitate? Are you pulling posts from the forum through to the front page as if using the forum as a CMS?

You're best bet might be to find a student who wants to earn a bit of cash.

I think the best route to take would be looking at a CMS system such as Wordpress. If you don't want the design changing, or only slight updates to make it look nice and new and integrating the website into a Wordpress system then it would be a one off job.

Normally the dev/designer(if you use a freelancer) will ask for 50% payment, do the work over X weeks, show you and when you're happy you pay them the other 50%. Being a CMS you can then write new posts on it and select which page it is shown on. A good dev will talk you through this to make sure you're happy with how everything works so you're not having to email/phone him every day or so when you think somethings broke!

A budget of £500 for a complete design overhaul and Wordpress integration is really stretching it. Its not unlikely to see freelancers charging £500 for the design and £500 for the Wordpress part of the project so you might be lucky to find someone to do that for £500 all in. But if its just the CMS you are really wanting then you can get that all done and a design done in the future.

In my defence I miss read tsinc80697 post. I thought he was saying £1000 for integrating wordpress which I thought was a lot. What he actually meant is £1000 for a new website and wordpress, which I suppose isn't to much.

edit// not a website designer so not pimping anything, editied tho
