Is there a online site that will tell you if a property is ex-council? Also what is so wrong with owning an ex-council house assuming the area is nice (not chavvy) and the house is nice?

Why are you asking if you don't care if it was or wasn't? :)

No-one here is telling you that there's anything wrong with living in an ex-council house?

Most areas with ex council houses will still have some that haven't been bought. When I was a kid, you could tell who had bought their house on my grandparents street, and when, just by looking at it, as the council do standard upgrades to all their houses - things like fences, doors, windows etc would be identical or very similar on a council owned property.

Nothing, I'm just bitter that freeloading scum in council houses were allowed to buy their places for next to nothing and make a pile of money out of them while people like me work hard for a living and can't afford a place of their own.

Some of us Freeloading Scum have paid over £50 a week to rent our houses for years and years. My parents couldve purchased there house several times over with the amount of rent theyve paid. So why shouldnt they take up the offer to buy the house cheaply?

Get a council house then in a few years apply to buy it ;)

As they say in hiphop...Dont hate the player, hate the game.

Im in the same position as you and I dont feel that way, I see it more like people who are quite smart and can use the system or milk it legally. Perhaps if the government fixes up we wont have all of these issues?

I was just about to construct a post about how its miles below market value, and that you are getting a very easy ride thanks to the tax payer. But i just noticed your location and to be honest i have no idea on the market up there. Sounds insanely cheap though!

Because it's dirt cheap :)

It is a coucil property, it should be. I dont see what the problem is. If he is that bothered...get on to the council property..simple as.

What do you wan't council tenants to do,write to the local council asking for rent increases

They set the rent & we pay it,simple ;)
