i got the trial of WoW, and im only getting 200kb/s, normally i get around 1/1.5mb/s. What Does p2p downloading mean? its currently checked in the options, should i try turning it off?

I heard someone say you can get updates through torrents too, is that true?

thanks

The blizz loader/launcher partly uses P2P to patch.
Launcher Settings > preferences > P2P

Unselect the P2P bit from what I've seen it prioritises upload over download, knock it off give it a coupla mins, shoud be much better:)

It also requires that hundreds of ports are opened and forwarded correctly to get maximum speed.

I wouldn't bother, personally, as that has to reduce security. I'd just get the big patches of alternative sites and then just patch what evers left over.

I normally just download the patches with the Blizzard downloader with p2p turned off, with the last patch (the 5.3GB one) this gave me about 1MB(ytes)/s.

Having p2p turned on reduces my speed by a ridiculous amount, despite the fact that uTorrent works fine, with no ports forwarded(upnp or whatever it's called turned on).
