Right I bought left for dead 1 a while ago, I've got about 10 hours or so play out of it which was pretty fun. However It got boring real fast, now I think this was down to the fact I found it too formulaic and too easy. But I can't help but feel I missed the point, as I love anything zombie related and I love games that require teamwork.

Now I haven't bought a mic yet, you reckon that would be a good purchase? Also call me a noob, but I'am not really sure how to get into the whole ocuk lfd community. I click on the group "500 players in game" but nowhere does it show me how to join one of these games.

Any people here that still play, and are a good laugh?

Or is it just a game for people with lots of friends that play computer games?

I don't think there is a certain "technique" to get into a game really to be honest. I'd say that you either enjoy the game or you don't. If you got bored of the game fast then it's probably just because the game has no long term appeal to you.

invite them to your friend list.. and if l4d2 has not yet killed l4d community as i dont play now... you will get invites :) the games will be hard and frustrating some times but it's much more fun this way

Voice in the game is usually just crap...

Last time I played the whole server lobby system was badly broke it could take an hour just to find a good server :( I ended up running my own for awhile just so I'd know the connection they were hosted on (proper dedicated) was smooth.

I found versus mode the most fun to play in left 4 dead... but... you need players with a good flow and pace... anyone too slow, too fast or don't know the little tricks like using closets, cornering, etc. ruin the round entirely for their team.

are you playing versus or campaign?

campaign is boring tbh, versus is far from Easy as you're constantly under attack by specials.

but if you search theres a huge ocuk l4d steam names thread add those people.

mm_dedicated_force_servers 217.163.22.186:27015,85.234.148.8:27165,85.234.148 .240:27145,94.23.222.136:27016,94.23.222.136:27017,85.234.148.165:27095

lobby leader whacks that in console and you're good to go on the ocuk servers. no hassle.

voice in game works perfectly, lobby voice is still a bit naf so don't use it there but in game there's no issue with it at all.

I sounds like the last time you played it was a m onth after release.

Goldfingers add me on steam (ricorodreguez), and send me a message saying who you are etc so i remember, and I'll invite you when I'm having a vs game.

The appeal of the game wanes quickly if you only play it with randoms or bots. You need to play with a team of skilled players who use mics and communicate effectively. Then it becomes really fun.

VS. mode is even better; where each team takes it in turn to play as the zombies. It gets pretty mental sometimes.

As others have said, get into the group, add a few of us...wait for invites...kill zombeez.

Correction:

Make sure any spaces after the first one are removed. It copies wierdly from Steam to forums so not Tefal's fault.

As said, add some of us to your friends list and try it then.

just wait for L4D2.

I find L4D boring and repetitive and can't wait for 2 as it has more features. L4D is pretty bland.

 The two games aren't THAT different. L4D2 only builds on the basics introduced in the first game and those basics may well be handy to learn before jumping into the second game anyway.

P.S. Coop is underrated. Expert is only easy if you have a good team. One or two weak players and you are screwed.

Play it with 3 friends and a mic. No other way imho. Have no interest playing with randoms as the game experience depends on who you're with. The Deathmatch/Zombie play bit never did it for me either.

My 2 pence

You MUST play it on hardest difficulty or it is boring.

The thing is -- when you see the tank you must see it as a massive threat .. something thats quite likely to end your game. Not just something you can 'run and gun'. A disturbed witch should almost always result in the 'disturbee' dying. You have to make the game scary difficult or, well, it just ain't scary.

Oh, and you have to get 3 good mates, with microphones, who you can 'banter' with the whole game! Don't get mates that care how well or badly you play -- get mates who will crack open a beer or four and talk cr&p with you as you chug through a level.

Then it gets excellent ..

Have you made sure to go to the New and improved ***Left4Dead Steam Names Thread***

Add yourself there and we'll spam you with invites when we see you online.

Also, for extra clickable handyness my sig (specifically the steam button) is a clickable link to my friendliness :)

A mic is handy but not entirely necessary for your enjoyment of the game. I would recommend you get one though.

100% agree

Have you sent them friends invites on steam?

Problem is, there is a core of main players left now and the less frequent players have died down. So often invites get spammed to this lot first as we know they will play.

I would suggest adding some of the main players, click on the post count of the left4dead thread and see who posts the most as these will tend to be the most frequent players.
