How to getthe best out of Octopus Flux

I force export about 18kWh at peak rate. Always import 20.5kWh at off peak.

I'm not doing so well since prices dropped, and of course the weather's not great either. Currently at -£13.18 for the last 6 days, and -£106 for the last 27 days.

PS Tuesday was just -99p, and Saturday we had to pay £1.29!!!

That's still decent, what are you going to do over Winter? Will Flux still work out fairly cost neutral given your larger capacity for storage and generation?
At the moment I'm staying on Flux, I will probably turn up my charging at some point, so the batteries start the day full, rather than at 80% as they currently do, which on bad days will give me more to force export at peak.

I've not done the sums, so not really sure, and I'm sorely tempted to add more panels, but that would require planning permission for a solar veranda.

For me, the Flux import is dropping to 16.858p, with day rate export dropping to 17.097p.

Given efficiency losses, will be almost certainly worse off charging, then exporting, but if the weather is bad and I need to import then I'd be paying 28.97p, so I will still charge my batteries overnight, and maximise the chance of having a full charge come 16:00 (peak export is 28.335p).

I've set my scheduled charge to start at 2:01, from what I've just read the off peak period will still be 2am to 5am. Also checked that my Victron system will automatically update when the clocks change.

If you're on a cheap rate that overlaps the clock change, say midnight to 3am, then tonight youd get an extra hour of cheap rate, but when the clocks go forward you'd lose an hour, so evens out.

We've actually had to pay some money for our October bill :(

We were credited £86 for exported electric, which means net cost of electric is £70, and then there was £39 for gas, I think that's the first bill since we switched to Flux back in April that's actually cost us money.

Secondly, an inverter size that can charge your battery from pretty much empty to full within the cheap electricity time window

Just catching up on this thread, I'm on Flux and have 29 kWh of batteries, and an 8kW inverter,. Which means I can only charge 24kWh in the three hours, not including losses. That will see us through the day though, and sometimes I even export between 16:00 & 16:30, max I can do in that half hour is 4kWh, but often it's less than that as I limit forced export to 55% SOC, I don't export after 16:30 currently so it doesn't affect the saving seesions.

Currently the only time I end up using the grid outside of off peak is Christmas day, due to lots of cooking and poor solar, or after a saving session. I may even top up a bit prior to a session.

Our electric for the last 27 days is averaging £4.11 a day including standing charge, obviously as the days get longer, and hopefully sunnier that will drop, but currently our gas and electric bill since April is negative.

This time of year, I'd be better off on a different tariff, but don't have an EV and also couldn't be bothered to change tarrifs for 3 or 4 months.
