Ok so I've got my pc to the stage now where it runs everything I throw at it without any trouble. I have a big screen and ample HD space. So theres pretty much nothing I can think of improving.
What would be worth spending money on now while I have a little spare? Better cables? A decent sound card? Something maybe cosmetic that makes me a little more proud of my system.
What do you guys do to improve a pc when its running as good as needed?

What are the spec's of your system?
New case?Or monitor?Gaming keyboard and mouse?
Or save your money,or treat yourself(and girlfriend?)to a weekend away?

Thats the thing, I love my monitor, kb, mouse, mousepad. And my gf I already treated :p
As for the system:
amd phenom II X4 955
8gb DDR2
ATI radeon HD 4890 1gb
5.5tb hd space.
Theres really nothing I want to improve there, everythin I play game-wise works perfectly without fault on max settings.

Personally, I keep the money, as my machines very rarely run fine and with no need for an upgrade for very long. Then, when you need it, you have the cash. Just a thought.

You could go for a SSD? Just for the hell of it...

I was tempted by that the other day, but my boot / games disk is 2x SATA2 in raid, so speedy enough!

What do you guys think about X-Fi as an improvement over onboard? Bearing in mind £50 7.1 speakers with only 2.1 plugged in :p

If you really insist on spending some money, you could buy a decent sound card and some decent speakers. The skies the limit with that one. :p

But to be honest, I'd just keep the money for another day as well if I were you rather than spending it for the sake of it. There is such thing as saving you know!

Saving = giving money to me :p

tbh, Id save it, or go for a new soundcard - sounds stupid to have a 7.1 sound system and a 2.1 onboard sound

Oh no no no you dont understand :p I have 7.1 onboard sound and 7.1 speakers. But nowhere in my room to set em up lol. So only 2.1 plugged in atm!
So has anyone here gone from onboard to X-Fi? I've heard even on rubbishy speakers the difference is very noticable, and I spend a lot of time on headphones too.

It's difficult to say really without knowing what your speakers or headphones are like, but there will be an improvment of some sort for sure. Will all depend on how 'trained' your ears are as well. Some people are better at picking out better quality sounds over lower quality ones than others.
