How to make 3090FE quieter?

My 3090FE seems to have a bit of a mind of its own, it sits around 68°C while gaming, sometimes the fan is quiet but sometimes it's super loud even though the temp is the same, sometimes it'll be 68°C and quiet but sometimes even after shutting the game down and the GPU is cooling down it's still super loud.

I'm used to having AIO GPUs where I connect the rad fans to the motherboard so I have more control over the fab curves and overall noise levels and temps but with this FE card is there any way I can control the fans?

Create your own fan curve is MSI Aftebrurner.

What temp does it start to throttle at (so I know what I can get away with)?

With the fan curve set to a noise level that isn't too loud it sits at 73-74°C, I'd actually still like it quieter still tbh.

How do I undervolt, do I just use the power slider in Afterburner?

For best results its probably worth a Google tbh, there should be a load of YT videos about undervolting now, find your own numbers/safe limits and it should drastically reduce the power draw, heat, fans speed but retain the same performance or in some cases, better performance.

Bit of trial and error and you should be good.

That's fine for me, I run my Ti Strix at a max of 76% fan and it's v quiet and tops out at 80c but gives me a sustained 2Ghz clock (with an increased power limit) which I'm more than happy with.

Good to know, so yours isn't throttling at 80°C then.

Mine undervolted and FPS limited to my monitors max runs sub 50 degrees in Warzone. Completely inaudible too. Stock fan curve.

Nice, bumping mine up to 74°C has made it failry quiet now, not under@volted yet though.

My case is actually setup for an AIO GPU so the newly installed air cooled GPU has hot air blowing on it from the CPU AIO radiator currently so that needs sorting as well, that should help keep the GPU cooler and thus quieter. I'll do that today.

Will do, I'll get the chassis set up properly for the air cooled GPU then take a look at under volting.

Well the CPU rad won't fit in the top of the chassis so I'm stuck with front mounted for now which isn't ideal for an air cooled GPU but not much Incan do about that right now. Best I can do for now is speed up the exhaust fans a little to get the hot air out asap.

No, I unlinked the PL/Temp throttle limit in AB and set the temp to 91c.

Same here. Slight undervolt and downclock, and even while playing VR games on an Index at 150% supersampling it's rare that my 3090FE's fans become loud, and I've not noticed any appreciable drop in performance.

I showed my rig to my daughter and boyfriend the other day (both PC gamers) and they couldn't believe how quiet my system is under load. It's not silent, but it's massively quieter than their machines, yet is hugely more powerful.
