Hey

I installed my OS on my SSD. However whenever I download things now it all wants to go onto the SSD by default. Is there a way to make this by default want to save things to my 500gb hard drive, not my SSD?

Basically it'd be handy if I had my desktop/program files all on my 500gb hard drive.. is this possible?

Thanks!

Save downloaded things to another HDD by default? Just change the default download directory in your web browser.

As for changing the default program files directory, I believe you need to edit the registry to do this.

Thanks any ideas on how to do that registry thing? Just googled it but a bit lost.. :p

Have a read here. I done this with my SSD and HDD so now all my Pics, Music, Videos etc are stored on the HDD but I can access them the exact same way as I did before.

Thanks for that! I think thats sorted my desktop, music and other stuff. But I still need to some how get Program Files + Program Files (x86) on my new hd.. hmm

Why do you want to move program installations onto a slower drive? Surely the point of having an SSD is to benefit from quick loading of apps?

I'm not entirely sure it is possible. Just install the programs to a different location and keep the ones you need regularly on the ssd for MOAR SPEED

Well yeah

But its only 60gb. I'm going to put my main apps on there like photoshop/illustrator but 90% of the time I will want it on the slower bigger drive.

Anyway, I found this: http://benosullivan.co.uk/windows/h...er-folders-in-windows-7-to-a-different-drive/

Think I'm going to reinstall again and just follow those steps - I think thats what I need to do...
