Having just watched the news, I was outraged as a British man to be told the way of making the perfect cup of tea was to add the milk first to the cup before making the tea. This is not the way it should be in my mind and I personally think we should go to war over this grave issue!

But it does raise a question ..How does OCUK like their tea?
Do you put the milk in first before adding water, perhaps you don't even like milk? how does this being on the news make you feel?

Personally I dislike milk and thus have it black with two sugars maybe this offends you?

Teapigs or PG tips gold is usually my choice

Agree on PG tips being weak , had to start buying the gold blend packs as even with black tea PG tips original isn't that strong

Perhaps a poll would be a good idea

Seeing tea originates from Asia, and they don't put milk in their tea, so the argument of adding milk in totally falls flat at the first hurdle.

Milk after (I did the opposite for years ), no sugar. Twinings English Breakfast.

I quite like black tea however after a while I have to mix it up.

quite but the British love to be original

Never use a teapot takes far too long to make when I need the tea made 10 mins ago else I will stay in some terrible man-beast state until the tea effect has kicked in

Firstly you cannot whinge about anything when you are using PG tips and adding 2 sugars to it.

Secondly, I used to be a strong supporter of putting the milk in after the tea has brewed but its true, the best cup of tea comes from putting the milk in first. The tea comes out tastier and if you have hard water you don't get that horrible film on the top of the tea.

On the topic of tea, loose is best but if you are going for tea bags it has to be yorkshire tea.

1) Fill kettle and switch on.
2) Turn off just before boiling.
3) Green Tea bag in mug (NOT CUP!)
4) Pour water over teabag
5) Leave to brew for 2-3 mins.
6) Drink while still hot.

/Salsa

Clipper tea bags for budget, occasionally Assam bags with a sugar. If making it in a cup milk last if in a teapot milk first so the china doesn't break.

Technically tea tastes best as long as it's made the way you're used to. It's all psychological. As for me;
Tea, Earl Grey, Hot.

I think you will find you cannot say anything yourself telling me it has to be yorkshire tea :D PG tips is my second choice, try teapigs a bit on the expensive side but lovely tasting stuff

East sussex has some horrible hard water though so we rotate brita filter jugs for the kettle and it makes a huge difference

Tea pigs is eye-wateringly expensive. I may try it one day but I think the missus would have a heart attack at a) £10 for 50 bags b) the fact I drink at least 5 cups a day. I could almost pick up a drugs habit for that amount!
