I think there's a post a few pages back that shows a post from sapphire saying to max safe voltage is 1.25 so I'm guessing that why there OC tools stops there.
Well if you want to overclock you are better off getting the versions with the improved cooler. Pretty obvious really.
Are you talking to me? If so, it's also pretty obvious that the Sapphire version's cooler is very much improved over the reference cooler. My temperatures are good with the side panel on. My chip has to be VERY cool to reach 1200 MHz though.
I have a sapphire non oc one and I need 1.205V at least to get 1200 MHz stable. That's with the side panel off and the fan at 100%. With the side panel on I can't reach 1200 at all.
Yes a 7850 clocked around 1200 MHz would be around the performance of that superclocked 580, perhaps even slightly higher. It would also have a few other advantages over the 580, but 1200 isnt a given. Make sure you get one with an improved coolerr.
Any reason why Asus Tweak or Trixx only allows me up to 1.225V on my Frozr 3? Seen others closer to 1.3V although i dont really want to go much more than 1.25V? Clocks are at 1190MHZ on the GPU and 5Ghz on the ram.
Will the 7850 play BF3 @ 1080p with playable fps at high settings with or with-out the overclock?
Guys would it be more worthwhile to get a sapphire 7850 @ £185 as opposed to a gtx580 @ £239, If so would I be able to get close to the performance of the evga superclocked 580 with the 7850 if overclocked?
I game @ 1080p and will probably stick to a single monitor and maybe upgrade to a 120hz benq soon...Thanks in advance
