How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

Last day playing with the 7850 today. Tomorrow the system I built goes to it's new owner.

Great card. If a Sugo could take crossfire I may even of dumped my GTX680 for two of these.

Maybe you could just reprovision the 680 as a PhysX card and still get a 7850

Any chance you guys could run some Unigine Heaven 3 benchmarks using settings in this thread.

Distinct lack of 7800 series cards in there and would be interesing to see how they stack up.

Nice set of results there 555BUK. How did you bench the results to get consistency? Did you do it over a single player campaign section? or just a selection of MP.

It looks too regular between clocks to be a MP selection. Most likely SP

I used one of the most intensive single player maps - Operation Guillotine. After the end of the title sequence I ran Fraps 3 minute time demo and followed exactly the same paths. There are lots of near explosions and particle effects on this level to stress the card.

I get very similar results within large Multiplayer maps, but becasue enviroments/explosions change so much from game to game it is hard to obtain even circumstances. During real gameplay, I always enable VSync, and these cards hold 60fps pretty solid when overclocked. I do see the occasional dips into the 50's, but gameplay is rock solid on Ultra with FXAA set to high. MSAA cripples these cards (even my 680 suffers with MSAA), so use FXAA setting (Post Processing) intead.

Perfectly fine. I've been running it at that for a while now, never tops 72C, and its been solid in everything I've tried, BF3, 3dmark, Unigine, Batman AC, etc etc.

1.225V isn't much over stock TBH.

If i just copy the sliders in post 22 is that job done ? is it really that easy ?

Pretty much yup

There are some factors ofcourse, ambient temp etc, but it's pretty much that simple.

It's just that this will be my first time overclocking a GPU so xD

Just use the sliders in the amd catalyst control panel for now bud if you want to be cautious? Though you should have no trouble if you stick to the same settings as the others.

Remember that Catalyst has a max core clock of 1050 for this card, so that's why people use the in effect 'unlocked' asus tool.

Yes I should have been clearer. I was suggesting it as a bit of an alternative incase he wanted to be cautious when touching the voltage

Do not install AMD Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) if you intend to overclock past 1050MHz. Itr causes problems and is not needed. Just install the regular AMD drivers.
