How to overclock a 7850 past 1050MHz?

are you guys adjusting the power slider in ccc aswell as upping the voltage in asus gpu tweak? or just in gpu tweak?

heres what i got with a quick play of my msi tf3,could get more if i fiddle abit longer i suppose

I'm presuming those temps are under water?

Very nice

Can you not get any more out of it?

Yep its under water, and nope don't think so... unless I can find a way to get more than 1.3v, but it doesn't look like its recommended!

Pic of my card: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/23426361/000_0011.JPG

It is a powercolor card, I have flashed the asus bios :)

edit: yes there is some heatsinks on some random chips as I had them left over so I am kind of just storing them there... lol

Hello everyone !

It's too late but I had the choice between :
- a Sapphire BULK at 186€ (£150) now 200€ (£162)
- a MSI Power Edition Twin Frozr IV at 252€ (£204)

Which one would be the best choice ? Or maybe I should buy another card (Gigabyte) ?

About the warranty, could you confirm it's 3-years for the MSI and only 2-years for the Sapphire ?

Many thanks.

Just started messing with my Powercolor 7850. Doesn't seem to be as good an overclocker as most in this thread.

Haven't really messed with it but it seems the voltage tops out at 1.175, anything higher and the machine just freezes and fans spin full on the card.

So far 1100 Core and 5200 Ram seems stable at 1.150, the core won't go any higher and I've not tested the RAM yet, time to watch F1 Qualies!

I really don't know what's going on with my card.

It will loop sanctuary until the cows come home at 1025/1450, but BF3 crashes after 30mins. Dirt crashes as soon as you get ingame

Upping the voltage from the stock 1.038 to anything above 1.1V just causes crashes, even at 1025. 1.038V to 1.1V seems to have do nothing to prevent crashes either.
GPU-Z reports the voltages are increasing as expected

I've put the fan on 100% fixed, and it still crashes at 1200/1300 @ 1.225V
It gets through more of sanctuary at lower volts. Never reaches 70C before crashing.

Am I doing this all wrong ? I'm using trixx because the asus tool didn't show the enhanced overclocking range box

I have CCC installed if that makes any difference.
PSU is a corsair TX750M

Can't say for sure, but i've heard mixed reviews about the MSI.

My MSI PE does 1200/1450 at 1250mv, which is good but not great. Like others have said, they are no better or worse than any other brand of 7850 so apart from having a really good cooler, they aren't worth the premium.

Tried memory at stock speed? There's not a lot of point having it at 1450 IMO.

I've brought the memory back down to 1200, and it now runs pretty solid at 1000/1200 @ 1.038V, which isn't nearly as good as many people here

atm, I'm running at about 76C on the stock cooler in heaven. If I were to put an accelero twin turbo on, or similar, do you think I would be able to up the volts and have success ?
Bearing in mind at 100% fan, it won't pass heaven at 1200/1450 at 1.225V currently

After 45mins of BF3, the card crashed again

1000/1200 @ 1.038V, 79C

I'd say you have an overheating problem there, that's a really high temp compared to others running at much higher clocks and voltages. My 7850 never gets above 65-66C at 1200/1350, 1.25V. You might be better off cutting your losses and selling the card, then buying another. It's a bit of a lottery, by all accounts, whether you get a good OCer or not.
