How to remove this trim before tiling kitchen?

Can't see the hood you've got but sole the bottom folds off for cleaning the filters or whatever, can you look in there?

Some have suggested why not just tile above the upstands but think it would look best tiling from the work top up?

And then if I did it from the upstands, there would be a gap at the bottom of the current spalshbacks where it would be tiled to the worktop for just that section.

Yeah there's fixing inside the hood. I've had a look and if I pull the hood away, the splashback is fixed with screws to the wall behind the hood

Cool beans

Yeah if you go from the upstands I'd change the splash back

This is ours for instance

Isn't the trim on top of the upstands just silicone? I'd leave upstands there and use a tile trim edge up against it, especially if the tiles are not flat fronted. If the tiles have a smooth flat front surface then you can just put silicone along the edge between the tiles and splash back, finish it off then with a fugi tool to get a very crisp firm straight bead.

You also don't have such an issue with grout lines getting stained since they're further away from the countertop with the upstands.

Hmm I guess it breaks it all up etc

See we want to ditch the stainless splash back but then we won't have upstand for that section.

I don't think it would look too bad though

Obviously not sure what tiles etc you're going for, but we have upstands matching the worktop and then tiles as the splashback for the hob right down to worktop height. It's not exactly the same as we don't have tiles elsewhere as you plan to, but here's a pic from when ours were fitted

If you have grey grout it wont be too bad but not as easy to clean as a glass or stainless splashback.

Just here to echo the statements that you should keep the trim and tile above it. It will look better.

Presuming you're using a tile which goes well with the worktop/trim of course...

You would hope so if it goes with the worktop

I think I've been talked around to keeping the upstands in place then! I do think it will break it up nicely.

Now it's a question of remove and tile the splash or leave the stainless original in place hmmm

These tiles. We felt it went well against the green/sage.

Images there show it direct up from the worktop as an example. Not far off the colour of ours I suppose!

Trying to find all the steel sockets to match what we have/need too

Either has it's benefits...

Splash back, easier to finish off at the bottom against the countertop with a fugi tool finished line of silicone bead. However, not as neat on the vertical sides as you see the sides of the tiles.

Tiled, neater across the horizontal plane due to continuation into rest of tiling. Harder to get a neat edge along the bottom so I would use clear silicone there as you won't be able to use a fugi tool against the angled edge of those brick tiles.

I would go tiled with a dark grout.

To be fair i did ask a fairly obvious question:D.

OP why do you even want it tiled? If its all new plastered I would just leave it as is to be honest... I would change the lime green to another washable paint as its a horrible colour :p

True, I was meant to put :p that emoji as without it my reply seems rather arsey :D

Haha thanks ;)

Tbh that picture made the colour look bad! It's actually a fair bit lighter more of a sage. I think it will make more sense with the tiles :D
