While doing the work on the Ti I've managed to split a gaiter that is no longer available. Well done me!

First question - how can I repair it? It's only a small bit of damage, caused by trying to get a ball joint apart with a rubbish splitter.

Secondly, will this fail the MOT?

It's the upper ball joint gaiter on the hub knuckle.

Cheers
Mat

i think a new joint is your only option asides from superglue and a lot of hope.

as long as there is no play it shouldnt fail the mot but the joint will deteriote quickly.

might be worth going to a scrappy? he one near me is full of rovers, best place for them if you ask me! ;) :p

Failing that, a hot glue gun is a rather good tool IMO...

Self amalgamating rubber tape has worked for me in the past, the satellite guys use it, the gator has to be very very clean tho.

Any repair isn't going to last long, the centrifugal force of the CV spinning is going to put pay to any repair pretty quickly imo.

Bite the bullet, and do a proper job. :)

I'd be shocked if they didn't, but mind saying that how many rover 600's do you see on the road?

None my way for about the past 3 years (that i've noticed).

Some small motor factors often have random boxes of these. I'm sure someone on ebay was flogging them for a quid or so.

Congrats to all the people who can't read, he doesn't need a CV gaiter he needs a replacement boot for a balljoint.
