How to route Ethernet cable down the stairs?

Ive tripped over this cable for the 7th time and ive had it! Ive taped it to the wall for now but it looks like ass. Whats a better permanent solution to have an ethernet cable going down some stairs?

No to drilling holes in the ****ing walls etc

If you dont want to drill then magic is your only hope. That or wireless. You dont have to drill the walls, just feed it up the corner of the room and drill through the ceiling/floor.

No i mean is there some better method than tape to fit this cable to the wall? Blu tack maybe? I like the speed of a wired network.

Yeah homeplugs are slow though, and the new spec of homeplug was ratified like a year ago yet no new models with a higher speed have shown up. There is a single 1gbps model but i think its the old tech souped up which is crap, apparently it overheats too.

Got mine from OcUK. GigE, no problems. Even plugged into an extension cord and still getting excellent throughput.

If you're insistent though, staples are your best bet to route the cable.

9mm Cable Clips will do it, The nail is so small u won't see a hole in your wall.

Are you wanting to transfer large files? That's the only drawback I think. Mine stream HD files fine and route my Internet at its quoted speed.

get some cable clips the ones with nails hammer in to top of skirting board

My only suggestion is to buy Ethernet cable that is the same colour to which your going to be clipping against as white plastic trunking looks a pig IMO

But i thought homeplugs were pretty decent.

I had terrible results with Homeplugs even over <10 meters, but the it is an old house with old electrics.

My best bet was flat ethernet cable jammed down the side of the carpet with a screwdriver. Not a lot of use down stairs but you may be able to see a solution in situ?

With my wired Gigabit / Switch and CAT5E I typically get 105mb/sec transfer of large files etc across the network to my server and HTPC etc.
I have always been curious as to the actual speed of those Homeplugs and which ones are you referring to...?
