How to route Ethernet cable down the stairs?

I have just installed about 15ft of cat6 ethernet cable from the router downstairs, along the wall then up the wall and along the stairs using cable clips. Only took me 15 minutes and it doesn't look half bad. Might take some pics tomorrow... I just have to paint the cable to match the carpet XD

I will be doing this as my carpet appears to be super glued to the floor, at least i cant get the edges of it to budge much at all.

Homeplugs are definitely not slow.

It all depends on your electrical circuits

I did the drilling through walls and via the ceiling to wire the house. That property was rented.

But since moving into our own house, I've used home plugs. Can't say I've noticed them being slow myself.

Get a pair of homeplugs from someone if you know anyone with a pair to test if the net will be stable as there can be different results depends on house electrical cable.

Just bung it up the skirting using cable tack clips or in the carpet running up the stairs.

The trouble with running network cable under the carpet on stairs as some are suggesting is the minimum turn radius for the cable. Rough rule of thumb to avoid damaging the cable is radius of turn is 4x the diameter of the cable which will get messy.

If you don't want to drill holes (personally I would, and have, gone straight up and through the ceiling) then use homeplugs.

Is there not an easy route downstairs elsewhere? Thought about running it externally?
