I have a seagate 1TB which is vibrating my case, is there anything i can do to stop this? Its making a stupid humming noise which annoys me!

Im useing a Phantom 820 case so its held in place with plastic sliders and 1 screw

LOL that is crazy! The thing is its already suspended as its on 2 rails? I suppose this would be better but if it drops im screwed lol.

Also WTF IS THAT DEMON HDD?? ITS MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!

I think you're getting the scale wrong. In the pictures the suspended drive is a 2.5", the drive that appears to to massive is a standard 3.5". A 3.5" drive would need to be suspended in a 5.25" drive bay.

If you scroll down to post #8 in that thread you'll see an example that uses P-clips to mount the drive more securely.

Yeah but my SSD is tiny and my HDD is not that big, its HUGE!

Looks good but hard to do i guess. This humming is really annoying though its like HMMMMMmmmmMMMMmmmmMMMMMmmmm in a circle, if it was a constant HMMMMMM it would be fine :\

cut out a small block of foam or polystyrene and sit the drive on that,or use those air filled plastic bags they use in packaging and sit it on those

Yeah i dont wanna kill the drive, but i see what you mean. Is there any special stuff i can use?

Remember the drive is suspended in the air useing drivebay sliders, infact they are "anti vibration sliders" :\ my bum!!!

I cant hear it when gaming or with music but without its driving me crazy and i know its there so it makes listening to music weird if you get me lol? If the track ends and is not instant on the next i wil hear it and feel instantly mad.

Im like the hulk over this crap it makes me GREEN! or MADDD!

I have my old drive suspended with 3cm sewing elastic, the drive will not drop or get displaced at all and it has travelled all over the place with me. My newer drive is silent but the older one that is suspended had always been noisy until I suspended it. It is worth doing.

Edit - if you are worried about it dropping, think about this, if you drop your machine or give it a good clout, the elastic will act as awesome suspension. ;)

The drive is actually silent, its the vibrations its causing thats the problem lol, will this vibration travel through the elastic?

Someone said use a sock lol? just let it sit at the bottom of the case on sock?

There's a picture of my drive in that thread somewhere, best thing I've ever done with a drive. Can't hear it at all now.

I cant really do that though since ill have to remove the hub, i dont even think my hub comes out!

The bottom hub does but the top hub is fixed i think.

So im asking for an alternative, this humming is getting worse!

i'd suspend it with some elastic like others have said, as long as its horizontal and secure it won't drop anywhere, otherwise you could get some sound dampening mat/anti-vibe mat (same kinda dense stuff) and have it on the bottom of the case with a few layers of this below it.

Sorry I came across wrong, the problem you describe is the problem I had, the drive when not connected to the case is silent but as soon as its bolted to something it causes vibration. The elastic sorted that.
