Hi,

I am getting in some training for a cycling holiday and am wondering what the best way to go about it is.

On the holiday the distances covered over five consecutive days will be:

14 miles
10 miles
36 miles
65 miles
43 miles

For my training, which of these two examples would yield better results?

1) Cycle 7 miles every day for a week - 7 x 7 = 49 miles

2) Cycle 25 miles twice in a week - 25 x 2 = 50 miles

I only have three weeks of training time available.

Cheers

i would think 7 miles a day on consecutive days would be better if those two are the only options.

Cycling several days in a row with no rest days gets progressively harder each day.

Could you mix it up a little bit as well?
maybe
7 miles
7miles
25miles
rest day
repeat.

Make sure you give yourself at least 3 days of no cycling before you go.

Unless, you're going up Mont Ventoux on the short days, I'd go out for fewer longer rides.

Don't forget some decent shorts for the two long days.
