Hi

Just a quick one really.

Just bought an 8 GB USB Flash drive, and it seems to be failing. The files I copied to it are corrupt when I copy them off on the destination machine.

Does anyone know of any software I can use to diagnose this with before I Send it back ?

Thanks

I've had exactly the same problem with my 8GB drive. It's consantly corrupting files I'm trying to carry on it. The only thing I've tried to do to it is to reformat it etc and carry out scandisk functions.

send it back mate

did you buy it from ebay? could be a fake one

i'd only trust something like a corsair drive tbh (insert any other top memory brand name)

I did (get from the bay and sent it back already :D)

It was (apparently) Samsung memory with 1 years manufactures warranty. It was 8 GB, just had a few errors.

Then again, it was only a tenner :p

Lol mine was dirty cheap as well. I should have doubled the money and saved hassel :(

they do it with sony memory sticks too

basically they buy 1gb models, then flash them to force them to store more, so in windows it'll show 2gb or 4gb, sometimes you'll be able to store files over the 1gb limit (i don't mean file size limit), and files after that may begin to fail

ebay is utter balls tbh, they carry on letting rouge sellers use their service

It's a pity really, because 99% of the time I get good geniune goods (have to search for it though).

Things like this annoy me - because the problems usually arise after feedback has been given (you're not supposed to relate feedback on the "quality" of the goods anyway). So if problems like this arise - then there's no negative mark left on the seller.

The seller I won't be buying from again is midlandmobilephones just incase anybody was interested..

I got mine from Hong Kong.

I have been promied a full refund, and my return postage costs too. We will see. This one was not branded as being Samsung memory.

I got another from the UK, and fully intend to test it thoroughly before using it, and keeping my eye on it in future. This one is Samsung (so it claims).

I also plan to check out the promise of 1 years manufactures warrenty before keeping it.

I only plan on using it to move recordings from my PVR to my work machine, so it's not critical data. I agree with using top branded kit as Bledd says if it was.
