How to turn on Raid 0 without reinstall

Just added 2 Velociraptor 600gb to my system which I plan to use in Raid 0 for gaming.

Currently my bios is set to AHCI, if I set it to Raid for the purposes of striping my 2 velociraptors, as expected my PC will bsod on boot. So does anyone know the registry settings to preinstall the Raid driver ? Effectively go from ahci to raid. Also will Trim still work on my OS drive (Crucial C300). My understanding is the latest Intel rapid storage driver which I am using allows trim to work on your SSD boot drive even if you have 2 additional drives raided.

Finally I used diskmanager in Windows 7 to setup my 2 velociraptors as striped. Effectively software raid. How does this compare to raid using the intel controller which I assume is software based also.

Note: The velociraptors will perform faster in the software raid than when you use onboard raid. You can try benchmarks before and after to confirm

Thanks for the info mate.

I've seen a couple of vids on youtube and a few other sites which also say striping in windows 7 will give better performance. But won't that come at a cost of higher cpu overhead compared to intel's onboard raid or is that really a software solution also ?

Doesnt seem to consume any extra cpu resources
