I understand the question fully. It's just a rather silly question. We don't know what forum it is, what software they are running or what policies they have.
Usually an email is all that's needed.

i already tried to contact them directly but not had any response at all, I was just interested to see if it was possible or if they would just disable the username and leave it registered
