How will your team line-up now?

I'd personally go with.

----------VDS------------
Brown-Ferdinand-Vidic-Evra
-------Hargreaves---------
Ronaldo--Berbatov--Nani---
----Rooney----Tevez------

It looks odd I know, but Berba was used to playing just behind Keane at Spurs so i'd have him there at United and tell Rooney to go goal poach, and Tevez to be a little more selfish.

We would be destroyed :/

Admittedly i'm no manager, but I do play that formation on FIFA! :o

Why would that be so bad? I think between the back four and Hargo we have enough to keep all but the best teams at bay.

Surely he's bought berbatov to be a target-man?

----------------VDS----------------
Brown--- -Ferdinand--Vidic----- Evra
-Scholes / Anderson---Carrick / Hargreaves- (Pick two depending on the game)
Ronaldo-----------------------Rooney
--------Tevez---- Berbatov---------- (But with Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez interchanging leaving berb up top to be lazy and sulk but ultimately score lots :p)

Could drop either Tevez or Rooney for Giggs or Nani for a true winger.

I can never see Ronney being an out and out goalscorer/poacher. Just not in his game or attitude.

This is what confused me. I was no expert on Tottenham Hotspur but I seem to remember Berbatov playing as support for Keane?

Clearly he can play both, but I don't know where SAF will prefer to put him. I was under the impression he would play in the old Cantona position, just off the striker or strikers.

We haven't got any strikers though bar Berbatov :p

Neither Tevez or Rooney can really be called out and out strikers. A striker is what everyone's been calling out for at united!

Keane and Berbatov scored so many goals together because that had an inherent understanding of each other's game. One would drop deep whilst the other stayed up front but neither player was designated as the support striker. They scored a virtually identical number of goals.

For United, it's gona be tuff. One or two player will get benched.

Most likely line up will be:

VDS

Brown Rio Vidic Evra

Anderson Hargreaves <---- For physical games.

Ronaldo Rooney Tevez

Berbatov

I would do something similar but more along these lines in front of the back four

- Rooney - OH/Carrick

-Ronny - Tevez - Anderson/Nani

- Berbatov -

--------VDS---------
Wes--Rio----Vida--Evra
Ronaldo--Carrick--Anderson
----Rooney-----Tevez-
-------Berbatov------

That's how they should line up, with Rooney and Tevez dropping deeper like they do anyway, at least this way there is still a focal point for the team rather than having Rooney and Tevez running round trying to get into the game and having no bugger up front

No AM through the centre with either Carrick or Hargreaves between him and Rio/Vidic

(ie how Scholes used to play a few years ago)

He isn't going to be an AM playing behind 3 other midfielders and next to Owen Hargreaves is he?

You wouldn't have Hargreaves as a starter?

Apologies, i forgot how reliable he is :/

Carrick is our best midfielder, you need someone sitting there pinging the ball about but i agree it all depends who we are playing, in this day and age the squad plays a big part and OH doesn't look like he can string that many games together at the moment

When we need someone to sit in front of the back four and break up play then yeah Hargreaves/Anderson all day, when we are playing the lesser teams in the prem your Wigan's, West Brom, Liverpool and Hull then go all out for it imo

Two strikers and two wingers

Scholes nearly always was positioned next to the DM in his heydey and yet he was still the AM

If you want to be pedantic

- - OH/Carrick- - - -
- - - - - - - -Rooney

Ronny - - - - - - - - - Anderson/Nani

- - - - - - - Tevez- - - - --
- - - -- - -- Berba

Hargreaves may have had knee problems, however every game he has played he has contributed a great deal, Im not saying Carrick doesnt, but in a really crunch match IF it was either or , I would chose OH as he can be both AM and DM, Carrick is definitely more AM minded (from a deep position)

Not that it really matters as the front four or five would move and rotate anyway more than any "traditional" formation allows for

If you put Rooney in the middle of Ronaldo and Anderson i would agree :)

From that it looks like you're playing him too deep, he needs to play in the hole behind a striker not AM

But then he gets in Tevez's way in certain respects imo

They CAN play together, but I dont think they should necessarily be in the same areas of the park

Rooney will always drift where the ball is, no matter where you play him, if you get him slightly further away from the goal than Tevez .....and Berba
(and Im really not sure about this theory that SAF has bought Berba to be behind Tevez and Rooney) you will get a lot more out of Rooney
