How would you convert somebody to pc gaming?

most of friends dont relise the potential of pc gaming as the rigs they have won't play modern games. The mainly use their pc for Net and office stuff, so aren't shown the full potential of pc gaming. Also they are put off when things ago wrong i.e. installations, driver problems etc...not their fault to be honest. It's why most console players like playing console games..

I hope steam box, nvidia handheld will convince them of playing some pc games on their large tv's in living rooms!

Also, if he does take up PC gaming, prepare to provide ongoing support if they aren't tech orientated:D

My brother is a recent PC convert and every time I'm round, I end up modding or updating something. He seems to be getting into the swing of it now though

Bit of a culture shock to some after the simplicity of a console

True, but that is how I got into PC gaming and now I do not mind showing others the way. I lost track of the "I've lost this file" or "I cannot get this mod to run" requests I made of others so I'm OK doing it for someone else as they will then do.......etc,etc.

With there's a will, there's a way lol

ROFL, what have you got at home to play your fuzzy warbbles on then? Bloody love that film.:D

Consoles are just simpler and cheaper

Hardware that lasts, pure gaming

Pcs you have to spend more time with, which often annoys me actually

not sure about consoles having hardware that lasts. Xbox is now into 3 or 4 generations and still lags behind proper pc gaming rig...If you spend and choose right components for a pc they will last longer

I agree with you that you have to spend more time with pcs but with portals like steam most things work straight away now. It's windows/ drivers etc that needs tlc.

True.

I think it comes down to price.

I could play PC games on a big screen too if I had a nice tv, with an xbox controller and you still can with the new ones.

The only differences that matter are community and price.

PC gaming only if he has the means and patience, and also need a computer for other things. £1,000, £1,200 all inclusive. And he don't mind the lack of exclusivity. Else, He can just stick to consoles and he'll be fine.

Oh, and the Oculus Rift. But that's for next year :)

I built my wife a pc after she tried WoW a few times..

Two years later after raiding Most content in WoW and moving onto Rift and Guild Wars 2 i feel it was the worst thing i ever did !

I want my Cooked Dinners back :(

Hardware that lasts? if you like low res, horrible image quality, stupid load times and horrid frame rates then maybe....

Also, after you've shelled out on the ridiculously priced peripherals and the annual subscription just to play online, and the £35-£40 games, console gaming isn't that cheap :p

Let him know to budget for a keyboard, mouse, mousemat, speakers/headphones, monitor and potentially a desk and chair... :D

new one can, Xbox Snap redtube!
And you can have both hands free as well.
why you think were all pre-ordering?
