How would you take this roundabout?

Things like this really are not taught well enough in lessons/for tests.

I was always told no matter what anything past 12 is right hand lane anything before is left hand lane. There's a roundabout on the way to work where all the locals use the left hand lane to go of at 2o clock ish, only one exit before this at about 10. but then people that aren't familiar with it go in the left and then a horn bleeping, swearing and hand gestures always occur after.

Reminds me of a roundabout near me, leading to motorway slip roads. Left lane breaks off into its own lane down slip road, signage says left lane straight on and right lane motorway slip road the other way.

Of course when you get to the roundabout it opens up to 3 lanes with no road markings, constantly have people in both the middle and right lanes turning into the motorway slip road (which is 1 lane, not 2)

I could never find definitive universal guidance for scenarios such as this (exit >180 degrees, dual lane approach, no additional lane guidance)
If the LH lane was queued i'd use the RH lane, but would be careful to position myself alongside a decent gap to my left to avoid cutting anyone up.

I'd be in the left lane, I know the 12 o clock rule but looking at this, if you're in the right lane your going to need the power to get well in front of a car in the left lane. I use a roundabout similar to this on my way home, except the one I use is pretty much bang on 12 o clock. The amount of idiots who use the right lane then cut up a car in the left is unbelievable!

It is tempting to keep speed with cars doing it and let them poo themselves when they realise they are about to hit me but not having an accident is actually more important to me so I'll usually end up breaking then toot the horn if they have really taken the mick.

What is it with roundabouts that people will just throw their car towards their exit regardless of what lane they are in?! If you've mucked it up just go back round! Its a roundabout! :p

but that doesnt work in the real world, here for example:

Having street viewed the OP's roundabout, left lane to go left, right lane to go right, either lane acceptable to go "straight" over (given that the exit is wide enough for 2 cars to "merge in turn" - but that's another topic in itself!)

There is a roundabout like that near where I work. I can't figure out which lane to use because people seem to use either, and there is no signage... I used to always use the left lane, but now I almost always use the right lane... Either way you still end up with the same scenario where two people are trying to take the same exit from time to time. It just seems to be less often when in the right lane...

Sideways ?

Yes! And also its (media=youtube)(/media) now rather than (youtube)(/youtube) :)

I have a roundabout like this on my way to work. I was using the left lane for a few days until I realized one day when I cut someone up.

On that roundabout I would use left lane too unless I knew the area.

It is an interesting one - pretty sure my driving instructor banged on about the 12 overclock thing and said that unless there were markings to the contrary i.e. with double lanes on and off to avoid passing an exit in the left hand lane whenever possible - but its a long time ago now.
