How you going to survive winter?

you leave winter alone .. i'll still ride my motorbike as i have done for 10 yrs + and it's cod season so i'll be standing in sideways sleet watching my rods :) .. whats wrong with people that winter is a problem .. i grew up in canada well 7-15 yrs old .. -35 is the norm and drifting snow banks with 3-6 days of snow ..
NOW THATS A PROPER WINTER ... lol
Yes, I've been to Canada a few rimes. One of the projects I worked on was Icebreakers. One was in dry dock and -20C. That was not pleasant.....................:(

I prefer the winter so I'm happy as ever. If it's cold I add clothes, if it's too hot I remove clothes. If it's raining outside it doesn't stop me going out or doing what I need to do within reason.

I also work outside a lot so I can't really pick and choose.

I'll be stocking up on a few projects to do and get enough food and booze to see me through an unexpected lockdown if it happens. I expect they'll be quite a few shortages for a few bits this festive period as well so will be getting everyons pressies earlier than usual

You trying to reverse the temperature outside or something.
Yup.
All the stoopid Brits At The Beach you see any time there's a heatwave, I want to see there in mid-December, at which point I'll simply reboot and watch the lobster-coloured fluppets suddenly freeze!

We dont have proper winters or cold here. I went on a weekend away to Ljubljana in January. Temps were -27C. Many layers of clothes involved and male thermal tights under jeans.
What a coincidence. My favourite winter clothing was made in Ljubljana!! :D

Not really bothered about the cold but I don't like going to and leaving work in the dark.
I love it - I get to crack out all my high-lumen LED torches, and most of the morons leave work early so the roads are clear! :p

Fill all my petrol cans up, stock up on toilet roll and generally hoard frozen meat and tinned goods

Hopefully the queues here aren't as bad as at the petrol pumps! 'Survive' winter.......

Same way I have for the last 35 years on this earth,

By not being a massive big girls blouse.

I think it's usually a bad time for suicides. Very glad I'm not one of the poor unfortunates who will have to decide between heating or eating if it's a bad winter.

People may mock the idea of preparing for winter but doing things before it gets bad is wise. I'm quite rural in the Scottish Highlands and here's a few things I'll be doing in the next month to prepare:

- put the winter kit bag back in the car; breaking down in sub-zero temps with maybe hours before rescue is not fun. A bag with thermals, mini shovel, torch, USB battery pack, water, something to eat, etc. I might never need it (again) but if I do it won't be so miserable.
- change over to winter tyres before temps get to 7c or below.
- change the concentration of the screenwash.
- move wood from the outside wood store to the garage.
- get the flues of the chimneys swept (boiler and stove).
- make sure I've enough heating oil, petrol and diesel stored.
- readjust all the double glazing window seals from summer mode to winter mode.
- change the duvet :D.

That's all off the top of my head, probably more.
