**HP OMEN 32 WQHD Gaming Monitor With AMD FreeSync Technology** A light in the quality control dark

Reliability has been an issue for some units however I'd say for any of the top-end stuff, you're likely to be OK.

If I recall correctly WVA is essentially another name for IPS. 32" at that resolution would be pretty horrible IMO.

Depends what you mean by top end stuff. The monitors branded as gaming monitors are terrible.

I'm not sure the resolution would be any worse than a 24" 1920x1200 screen and those are sharp enough.

Yeah this sounds promising, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet.

First need to see how the retail version stacks up against the "review spec samples" then find a solid retailer for it, so not to get brunt again.

You're thinking of AHVA (Advanced Hyper Viewing Angle) which is an IPS-type technology. That is not what is used here. This model in fact uses an AMVA+ panel, which HP simply refer to as WVA (Wide Viewing Angle) in some of their literature.

Possibly. But 5ms seems really quick 3000:1 contrast a little low.

First thing though is can HP deliver on quality.

Am I missing something? What's so good about this monitor? It's a large (too large) 2560x1440 75hz screen with colours not as good as IPS.

It's not really whats so good, but whats not wrong with it that might make this a great screen. The DPI should be fine unless you sit inches from the screen and it's not much bigger than a 16:10 30"

Should have a decent chance of extending the VVR range. This might drop down 37hz with modded EDID settings in the driver, though I would be looking more to push 75hz+ and extend the top end.

Will low frame rate correction work with a hacked driver?

A load of them come up on the auction site we can name. The seller offered them with next day delivery, so I assume it was UK or at least EU stock. They sold out pretty fast and I missed out.

They're a bit thin on the ground but these monitors are out in the UK. I'm looking at one outside the UK for a really good price, but just got an email saying they might not be able to post to my address. I'm trying to see if I can arrange a collection myself.

I've also seen a Korean version (Crossover 32Q75 QHD DP AVATAR Real 75Hz FreeSync Gaming Monitor WQHD 2,560x1,440) that looks interesting.

What's the deal with Korean monitors anyhoo? Are they known to use budget parts and hasty assembly, or are they just not marketed in the UK?

(Interesting stand on that Crossover, but I think I prefer something adjustable...)

They are supposedly top notch for the money. The down side is they come direct from the manufacturer.

Ah, so a 3 week wait on shipping, and if you're unlucky enough to get a dud, returns will be a massive hassle?

Being the sort of chap who always gets the dud, I'll stick with something I can swap within a few days :D

Shipping is only a couple of days from Korea and most screen seem to come pre tested probably to reduce DOA screens. The problems would probably come if you needed to return the screen. You probably couldn't DSR if you got a dead pixel and you'd have to follow the sellers returns procedure.

Very happy with both of them so far. Zero light bleed zreo faulty pixels and very uniform image. Looks like HP have got the quality control down no glowing to be seen anywhere.
