HP Pre 3 released

I just called CPW - according to their system they are still expecting stock but have no dates and taking no pre-orders.

IMO this probably just up in channel and not updated yet to say HP pulled out. If CPW have no pre-orders they have no reason to put the effort into getting them.

Yes I would, smaller rez but a very powerful CPU/GPU in it definitely makes it seem slightly more responsive and smoother. The only time I actually had a problem was when trying to purchase a touchpad during the initial Monday rush and was on the train home, I had about 7 browser cards open and was waving the phone around. All the carded browsers tried to rotate at the same time :D

They should probably turn off auto rotate on a background/carded process. You don't get rotate lock on the menu on the phone (webOS 2.xx vs 3.xx?)

Cheers!

Very very interesting indeed. Reason I ask is that I'm sure I read somewhere that phones wouldn't be getting webOS 3.xx because it was only for tablets, kinda like the Android situation. This got me thinking that perhaps webOS 2.x and 3.x may have quite a lot of things not in common, along side things that are common, and perhaps is these differing portions that cause the odd moment of slowness on the TouchPad.

Wish I had of waited for the Pre 3 now, but I'm just so impatient and couldn't resist the SGSII deals when I saw them :p

^ Unless your a complete webOS fanboy the SGS2 blows the Pre3 out the water, by miles... (you should be comparing it to a £170 U8800 titan if anything)

What will be interesting to know is if anyone purchased a Touchpad full price from CPW and then subsequently received a partial refund after the price dropped. If they did then they should also do it for the Pre3, which is still full price at the moment.

This...

Will the price drop defiantly happen in the next 7 days and will it be under £100?

I'm really tempted to grab a Pre3 from CPWH now and just get the discount later (didn't get a touchpad and don't want to miss out again :p) I don't want to pay over £100 for it though...

I think I'm heading down the fan boy route yes :p. The thing is though I'm increasingly finding that I'm not bothered about apps really a side from a few crucial ones, such as Spotify. For everything else I can get what I want most of the time just by having a web browser.

Here's hoping someone licences webOS and we start getting some more high end devices along with a real push for the platform as a whole.

Looks like CPW are getting some stock, £479 anyone?

I guess they're trying to stop people pre-ordering pre-emptively by attaching such a ridiculously high price-tag to it.

I bought an Acer Liquid Metal last week for £150 from expansys, but i havent used it yet; hoping to return it and get the pre 3 for £50 and use that instead..looks like an interesting phone..although Im not sure if im gona miss android..havent really looked into webOS on mobiles...just hoping at 10am on friday they are dropped to £50!

Missed out on the touchpad so dont wanna miss out on this!

Yep, I'd probably buy a SGS2 running webOS (with full browser/OS optimisation) over Android.
