HP Pre 3 released

I also bought the Pre 3 on the 12 month plan with 9 month redemption and 30 quid back via TopCashBack. It was dispatched yesterday and should hopefully be waiting for me when I get back from work, to say I'm excited is an understatement - I've had a Nokia 2360 for the past 5 years, this is the only smartphone that has actually made me bite the bullet!

For those who are getting bad credit etc I wouldn't be suprised if they've run out of stock, but then again these credit rating things are peculiar at the best of times.

A2Z, what's the need for whatsapp when you have unlimited texts? :-P

AmTechFox, buy it! You know it's the right answer, it’s cheap as chips!

I'm still waiting on the credit rating check :/

In case anyone cares I decided to keep the 8GB one and return the 16GB - it wasn't just the 2 year contract, the 8GB was cheaper even PER YEAR, not just overall, couldn't justify the extra cost.

Can anyone who has gone from an Android handset to a Pre describe how the Gmail functionality differs? I've found the single best thing about Android is how it deals with Gmail as an app (with the labels being a highpoint) and it's what has kept me with an Android handset thus far.

Is there a Gmail app for the Pre? Or does it handle Gmail accounts in a different app? I see Gmail doesn't support IMAP for WebOS and that's got me worried...

No app that I could find (I vaguely remember looking, not 100% sure though, and don't have the phone on me), so no labels and priority inbox etc. But there's support through the native email client of course! Or you could just visit the gmail website if you need the fully-labelled experience.

FFFUUUUUUUUUUU

Hello,

Thank you for your recent order.

Unfortunately, the item you ordered is temporarily out of stock. We have placed your order for this on hold and will despatch the goods as soon as we receive more stock.

Turnover of stock is often extremely quick and this can mean on rare occasions our website is not up to date. If you wish to enquire about switching to a different handset, please contact our Sales Team on 01923 80 33 33.

Rest assured that we will not charge your card for out of stock items until they are back in stock and ready for despatch.

Regards, Mobiles.co.uk Sales Team

I was hopping mad yesterday when Mobiles accepted my order but later emailed to say out of stock. However, today they say my order's been sent to the warehouse for despatch; so maybe I will be getting the Pre3 and Touchpad after all...

Yep, I did notice the Skype chat account, but I couldn't figure out a way to make Skype calls to normal phones, that's why I wanted an app :) I occasionally make Skype calls to friends abroad, as well as to non-geographical UK numbers (0845 etc) cause numbers like that don't come included in my free minutes and it's loads cheaper than my network's rates. But I can do that stuff from my computer, the only app I'm REALLY missing is Kindle. I tried Kindle Cloud Reader but they don't support the WebOS browser yet, only Webkit-based ones (Chrome and Safari - yep, not even Firefox or IE). And of course there aren't any Webkit-based browsers on the WebOS app catalogue.

Don't worry, I plan to fully mod and hack it to within an inch of its life, Preware is just a mild preview of what I intend to do with it, like a PG-rated trailer for an R-rated movie!:D

Yes and once you have added your skype account you can chat in the messenger and call people by selecting skype in their contacts?

Oh, I see, didn't notice that tbh, didn't even think to try! :p If that's the case then it's better than the normal Skype app, because the one for Android at least is a laggy, battery-draining POS.:D

Well, that didn't take long for them to get more stock! Awaiting despatch.

Go ahead and buy it people, they're still in stock!

Does anybody know of a good app or function in the phone that will watch how much of my monthly data I've used?

I'd also like something like this, the Vodafone contract I signed up for only gives me 500MB or so, and since I kept the 8GB phone I'm gonna need to stream my music...

I was honestly heartbroken to send the 16GB one back today. I had a look around and it seems they're extremely rare, everyone's only selling the 8GB models! :( If I were savvier I'd have sold the 8GB on ebay to fund the increased cost of the 16GB one, but that would mean I'd receive 2 phone bills a month and have to worry about sending in twice as many redemption claims for twice as long, it just seemed like a lot of bother.

Guys,

anyone who has bought the 12 month deal like me, and phone has arrived in September, Nathan from Mobiles.co.uk has been posting in the hotdeals forum as there has been a lot of angst about this deal, anyway he has put in black and white when to send your bills...

you can port your number, just make a note of it when you send in the bill, anyway here is his post... the issue seems to surrond the 12th bill, as technically it becomes the 13th bill as they start September as Bill Zero, if that make sense, so if like me you was going to cancel after 12 months I am still not sure it is clear if Mobiles.co.uk will play up

If you ordered this deal in September (£36 a month on 12 month contract with 9 Months Free)
The bills you send are :

Bill 6 - March 2012
Bill 8 - May 2012
Bill 10 -July 2012
Bill 12 - September 2012

http://www.mobiles.co.uk/cashback.html

You can cancel your contract when it ends if you wish, you will still receive the last bill to claim as this does not conflict with the cashback.
