I suggest that if CPW and HP have gone down the greed route that we all protest by boycotting their respective brands.
It is the most effective way for us consumers to deliver our message of dissatisfaction. I would especially urge all of the online retailers that have been hammered with orders and enquiries only to have them left holding nothing but a huge backlog of cancellations to return ALL HP PRODUCTS that they can get refunded (I assume distance selling alws apply to them equally). As for CPW I can only suggest anyone already on them to move to another provider as soon as possible, cut them out of their income as best you can.
This is maybe a bit early days yet, but for something like this to work it would need a large amount of people to join in. So , WHO IS UP FOR IT?
