*** HP Reverb G2 Owners Thread ***

Hey there thx for the reply, my plug adapter worked fine, it was just the cable going into the g2 wasn't in properly hence my hasty edit of my previous post before i had seen your reply lol. I'm going through the setup now, all good.

Hah, no problem :) Glad you got it working!

Hey All,
I have been running my G2 with no problems on my B350 3700x 3080 setup, however I'm just about to press the button on a 5800x. From what I am seeing the latest motherboards are having a nightmare with the G2. Is there a best option motherboard that doesn't have any issues with the G2 out there? I'm happy for either a B550 or X570 but preferably one with lots of USB as I fly DCS and have shed loads of peripherals.

Majority of people including me are just using a plain old USB hub and it works flawlessly.

(I do disconnect my USB-C cable after every use - using a switchable usb hub - but never the power cable...)

I do the opposite, I leave USB in and disconnect the power. I have just finished setting up a thing so I can hit the Scroll Lock key and it turns on a smart plug for my G2 and Steering wheel.

I was really tempted a few weeks ago with the G2 just for iRacing and MSFS but after hearing about the problems people are getting ill be keeping Quest 2, Ill wait it out for a G3 version i think

The Quest 2 is still a fantastic HMD, you're not missing out on a great deal. Apart from the X570 USB issue mine has been rock solid though.

Reddit reports suggest it is working well. I'll update mine tomorrow. My Aorus Pro isnt listing F33h as a beta bios, just a regular release.

Just installed F33h with AGESA 1.2.0.2 on my X570 Aorus Pro. Has not fixed audio issues :(

Edit: Been playing around. Updated the firmware on the G2, tried every single USB port on my mobo and case. Only ports that do work are the front USB3.0.

So back to using the hub in my monitor.

I am considering to purchase the reverb 2 for sim racing only. Asseto Corsa normal edition. Anyone here using it for purely that on a decent frame rate with over 2K res.
I once used 3d glasses on nvidia over 10 years ago at a freinds house . can remember getting abit cross eyes pain.

Is VR different in that it can support more FPS and is more FPS = less eye strain

Assetto Corsa runs pretty well in VR I find, even on my older GTX1080. You obviously have to knock some settings down to get good frame rates but not so low to make the game look bad..

For me it absolutely transforms the sim racing experience, its unbelievable.

I finally got around to calling HP Support, got a new cable coming out next week. Thought I best get it done before the warranty runs out!

Complete long shot in the dark with a blindfold...
Following on from my thread here I don't suppose there is anyone in Lichfield or the surrounding area that would be kind enough to demo/let me borrow to test their reverb? I want to see how it would perform in DCS on my rig if possible :)

I'm not close, but the brief time I used VR in DCS it was pretty poor on my 1080.

FS2020 is just about playable on minimum settings, 70% scale in game and 50% render scale in WMR.

The pixel count is just way too much for these older cards on a G2. Older and simpler games play okay on medium settings. I'll be upgrading once the next generation of cards release.

I arranged a return with DHL and they never picked it up. They called and emailed a few times but eventually gave up. So I have a spare.

I don't exactly feel bad about it. They're most likely going to go straight to landfill as soon as they get them back. So I'll keep it as a spare. It's not my problem really :D
