blocked the payment i was making to my mortgage company (capital), they phoned literally 10 seconds after the guy said the payment was declined. i was impressed!

after going through the usual ID check and then confirming that i had made x y z payments recently everything looked good... until HSBC said they will cancel the card anyway because it's a high risk card!!

i got him to confirm multiple times that the card has not been used by anyone else and was fine but he just said he's just cancelled it as we were talking.

got to get into the city centre to get money over the counter PITA

they are being ***** here or what? will my new visa debit card be any less risk i dont think so.

Barclays did this to me a while ago - they cancelled my credit card as it had been used at a retailer with a high case of fraud recently. I had no fradulent transactions on my account but they wanted to be careful.

That is a pain in the hole....

Barclaycard online banking is the best so far, select letters from dropdown menus means the risk keyloggers pose is moot.

Lloyds has done this for years, much better.
Other half has a secur-id type thing for hers. Has to put her debit card in it and type her pin, then it gives her a one time code to login.

Halifax now do this too.

HSBC's pop up gets really annoying I must say as I refuse to install anything that can link the internet and my bank details, no matter on how trivial the application is.

:o  Enters her card number and pin? Keylogger?

Nah, he means one of those calculator type things that you plug the card into and enter a pin.

I had forgotten about that, yes that is very annoying, I'm hoping it will stop popping up one day. Apart from that though they are excellent :D

If I was using HSBC site everyday then I would install the software, it's for security reasons.

As such I don't use it everyday, therefore I cba to spend the 5mins to install it.

HSBC <3

I switched from HSBC because there internet banking was pretty poor, now with Loyds which has some great features and support!

I had to uninstall Rapport from my C2D laptop, it's a resource hog and used to spike CPU usage fairly often ... causing stuttering on 720p playback.

As far as I can tell, all it protects you from is address spoofing, as long as you type in www.hsbc.co.uk manually rather than clicking dodgy links in your emails you will be fine.

Hsbc IMO are awful and I left them after their crappy service

Every time I have rung them they have been very helpful and polite. Once when I had to cancel all my cards I rung 4 banks, was fed up with talking to machines but when I rung HSBC a man answered the phone!! Not a machine where I have to press buttons to send me to write department ... a man!!!
