HTC "DLX" - 5" 1080p screen, 1.5GHz Quadcore Krait, Adreno320 GPU

well im thinking about a note 2, so this will be good to see another alternative

and i assume you can just plug in a blutooth headset to get past having to hold something so big to your ear

It has come true! *drool*

The display in question is a 5.0-inch, Super LCD3 with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which gives it a pixel density of the astonishing 440 ppi. The display is quite big but at 143 x 71 x 9.1 mm, the J butterfly is only slightly bigger than the One X (134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm) and at 140g weighs just 10g more.

Inside, the HTC J butterfly runs on a quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB of RAM. It has 16GB internal memory along with a microSD card slot.

On the back is an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video recording and on the front is a 2 megapixel camera. The phone supports LTE and NFC and is dust and waterproof (IPX5). Strangely, for a phone with such specs, the battery is only 2,020mAh. Lastly, the J butterfly will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The HTC J butterfly is set to release in Japan on AU/KDDI in December. The phone will be sold in three colors: red, black and white. Unfortunately, this particular model will be exclusive to Japan but we are sure to see that glorious display on HTC's future models soon.

Poor show regarding battery though.....

Apart from that, it looks like it will be the one phone to rule them all! :p

Now why couldn't they have released it everywhere else too :o :(

Saw that this morning ... Would snap one up if they released it in the UK! The fact it's got the sd slot is great as they've taken too leaving it out so often lately ...

Will be very interesting to see some test results once someone gets to play with one!

As SOON as I saw the rumours for this phone my immediate thought was HTC gonna troll the **** out of everyone by throwing in an insufficient battery. Quelle surprise!

If HTC really want to start stealing market share from Apple and Samsung consolidate your product lines, stop releasing a new model every week and launch a decent bloody ad campaign! (Skydiving fashion shoot? I mean come on, really?!).

That is a good looking phone!

Yeah, it does look rather nice, although not keen on the red back, can't wait to see the black version :)

Prefer the design/looks of the S/X though.

Same! :D

They do it for every phone, if it isn't a poor battery, it is the storage options :p :o

And if it is good in both those areas then it will be something else like a poor display.

Indeed!

They said they would stop all these different releases before the release of the one series as they knew that it was hurting their company but yet they still do it

I really don't understand how HTC muck it up quite so bad, their hardware is stunning and Sense is probably one of the best Android skins....but they always seem to make really stupid mistakes from no SD slot to ridiculous batteries. How hard is it to get right?

Have to say, I like the look of that, provided they release a more sombre and mature black or dark grey version. While the battery is questionable, I've been using a Desire HD for 2 years and have developed coping tactics! I'm hoping that the S4 will be pretty efficient, but I daresay that screen will consume a lot of battery. Will have to see what the reviews say.

Ginga

Hmm, the black is rather nice, not too keen on the back though...... reminds me of the GS 3 with regards to the flash, camera, speaker area, which I hate :p

The screen on the X/XL is very good regarding power efficiency (manual control of brightness) and we all know that the S4 chipset is the best when it comes to PE as well. It is just the res. that will drain the battery so quick especially when gaming and watching 1080P films :(

I was excited, and now my hope has been crushed by the size of that battery (and the fact we can't even get it yet).

HTC will never change, they'll always get 80% right and 20% wrong.
