**HTC HD2 Thread**

I also am getting the SMS bug on Vodafone, didn't notice it until a mate rang me asking why i hadn't replied to his last few txts, looked in outbox and saw them sitting there from all throughout the day :(

Have got it set to High Priority and 5 retries but pretty sure thats just for MMS. have set to Traditional mode this morning

HJK3958 - I have found mine better than my iPhone 3G in battery use which would last just one day under a couple of hours net browsing and a few calls - was dire after a while! My HD2 will go a couple of days when being used quite a bit. That said what is heavy use for you? Opinion on this will vary person to person

I'd like to know of the outcome of this as I'm near on ready to order, and from Vodafone.

300mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet - £20pm over24months (handset cost £220) which is perfect for me, as long as the blimming thing sends texts!!! :D

Will email you now Ian_Vodafone :)

HTC have just released an update to fix the camera giving pink-ish images, availiable here

EDIT: email sent Ian :)

I have watched several video reviews of the HD2 and I am really impressed.Only thing that I don't like about it is the standard windows menus.I am after a new phone and this looks great but I still haven't decided which one to get, this or the Hero. The HD2 looks huge! This is one disadvantage comparing it to the hero, how do you guys feel about it's size? And something else, how is Windows Marketplace? Are there tons of free and useful apps like Android Market?

Like where?

For me it's fine, and I don't have big hands at all. Only thing you can do is ask for a demo in shop and hold it for yourself. Fits in my pocket great too and slimness really helps with that.

Pretty rubbish tbh! From what I've seen anyway. All the programs I've downloaded have been from XDA.

Will also be improved in the impending 6.5.3 update or whatever MS finally release.

Mine should be arriving next week, woo!

Was looking at this phone for my upgrade as I'm due one soon (now) - had a call from Vodafone though saying that they were no longer selling this phone due to issues?

Its not due to 'issues' - the truth seems to be that its detracting from Vodafone are looking to sell - ie Samsung H1 - and they've decided not to restock it once current stock is sold through, which it pretty much is, there are about 10 left in the whole of the retail estate.

Shame as its a great phone, and I can see a huge market for it, but I am just a lowly retail worker, and not a headoffice person with tons of power!

Someone mentioned on another forum that it doesn't make any sense for Vodafone to drop the hd2 and that they must have struck a backhanded deal with Apple.

Remember, unlike the palm pre, the HD2 is the iphone killer. Vodafone are due to sell the iphone in the new year.

WHAT ! ?

so i cant even get the hd2 now ? looks like i will be leaving vodafone to be fair. i already felt forced into choosing the hd2 because they have no other top of the range phones

upgrades due in a week and a half and they have literally nothing that i want now

I'm in a similar position, I'm due an upgrade at the end of the month so if they don't have the HD2 available by then, I'm off to a network that does the Hero instead (seeing as that's what I wanted in the first place).

It's not nearly as big as it looks on videos. The size put me off too, but having held the dummy model in the Vodafone store the other day, it feels fine. It's very slim, and it's certainly not cumbersome to hold. Some reviews have said that it can't be used one-handed, but I certainly don't see why that would be the case.

Same here - currently waiting patiently for a fix. So keep us updated on your progress

I've just got mine in the standard leather pouch that came with it, Haven't found anything else I like yet.

Thanks Russinating, I applied a few of the tweaks you posted and I much prefer the look of it now.

No problem :).

For everyones info, I just sent this email to HTC:

Dear HTC,

There are a number of very basic issues with the HTC HD2 that need to be fixed ASAP as they disrupt the phone's basic functions.

1. The famed 'SMS bug', where SMS messages will sit in your outbox and never get sent. A quickfix for me is to soft reset the device and send another text (to anyone, even myself), and this initiates the sending procedure. As a heavy texter, this is an extremely infuriating and inconvenient bug which needs to be fixed ASAP.

2. The loading speed of SMS conversation history. Some of my SMS conversations are very large and as a result I have to wait a good 30+ seconds before I can start typing - obviously very frustrating. Either a history limiter needs to be put in place (ie shows the last 50 texts, with an option to view older ones), AND/OR a patch that allows you to begin typing before the history has fully loaded.

The HTC HD2 is such a great phone but a big screen and fast processor are nothing if I can't carry out the most basic of functions (SMS messaging) without a problem.

I look forward to a speedy reply.

Kind regards,

Russell

PS. I am using ROM 1.48 WWE and this fixes neither issue, and I am on Vodafone UK.

If anyone wants to send the same message please feel free to do so from http://www.htc.com/uk/CS_Mail.aspx. The more people that raise the issue hopefully the quicker it'll be fixed :).

Also has anyone noticed now insanely quickly the battery charges up from mains power? My battery lasts just about a day (I'm doing no power saving at the moment and am a very heavy user) but charges up from flat to full in about... I'd guess 20 minutes?

I noticed that too, the battery charges amazingly fast, but also goes down quite fast too :P. I just ordered a case for it off the internet for £5 :D

I'm slowly getting closer to syncing my calendars. Here's my situation:

- My work calendars (.ics files) are hosted on a website I own so that both me and my colleague can share them through Thunderbird's Lightning.
- I've now managed to "subscribe" to them via Google Calendars, although it kicks up a fuss at one of them as it can't parse it.
- I'm now at the stage of trying to sync my HD2 with Google Calendars, having some success with various programs but really just want something that updates every 2 hours or so automatically.

So if anyone's got any suggestions please let me know! It's a massive daisy chain of data but seems like the only way.
