**HTC HD2 Thread**

Just a heads up for anyone thinking of ordering a HD2 from MPD. I've just had a phone call off them saying they have run out of stock this morning, and are due to get some more in on Thursday or Friday. Said they would be out of stock lol, but i can wait a couple more days.

HJK3958 - I have found mine better than my iPhone 3G in battery use which would last just one day under a couple of hours net browsing and a few calls - was dire after a while! My HD2 will go a couple of days when being used quite a bit. That said what is heavy use for you? Opinion on this will vary person to person[/QUOTE

I currently have the wifi off all the time, only connect when i want to use it and have the screen brightness set to 30%. by heavy use, i suppose its not even heavy, i maybe browse the net for an hour max in a day and dont have any facebook or other data connections other than the weather which uodates every 6 hours. probably talk on it for an hour and half per day and maybe 30 text messages which doesnt seem heavy in my opinion but maybe im worng
im pretty sure my would not last a couple of days even if it were just idle

what are other peoples opinions?

I haven't had much chance to really test the battery as I've had it plugged into my PC a lot during the day to install/fiddle with things.

On another note, I went into Vodafone today. It's perplexing in a funny way, that neither the sales assistant nor his manager had even seen an HD2 before, and there I was asking for stuff. They both just said "woooowwww, can I have a go?" which was great :p.

Anyway then gave me a new 2GB memory card (the one I got in the box was duff), got customer services to sort out my free cinema voucher booklet and added the 50 MMS bolt-on onto my package for the hassle.

Also mentioned the SMS bug to them but seeing as they hadn't even seen the phone before I doubt it'll go anywhere, let alone through to HTC.

Check out the network operator ;)

Just picked mine up today - last one in our entire region of 19 stores - about 30 minutes later we recieved an email saying they're discontinued from stores and we wont be getting them back in. I chuckled.

Its on charge at the moment, cant wait to have a play!

So, wheres a good place to shop for WinMo apps? My iPhone was filled to brim with goodies, my HD2 feels a little bit bare!

Hi jrodga2k5

Thanks for the lovely welcome - I'll pass it on to Ian :)

Any known issues that we come across are escalated to our Device Management team and fed back to HTC.

All the best

Yeah I popped into the Vodafone store today and the guy said they'd been told they weren't getting any more in, and weren't given a reason. Odd!

Just wondering if anyone has got a silicone case or something similar for their phone, and if anyone uses screen protectors (yes i've seen the youtube vid)?

Trying to update mine to 1.48 but feel like I'm slamming my head against a wall. After the fun and games of trying to install Windows Mobile Device Center - it needs Windows Media Player 11 wtf? - I finally got that and now the ROM keeps kicking me out with ERROR 276 - the helpful advice to fix this from the readme file is 'Try Again'

I love the phone, but my god, this is why I've avoided WinMo in the past.

Can anyone who has the HD2 check to see if the "Internet Sharing" app is installed. It allows you to use the HD2 as a usb modem. Apparently, if it's not there, it can't be installed.

More details here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmob...ns/windows-mobile-laptop-internet-access.mspx

I have it, works a charm. When I plug the phone in via USB I get three options - Active Sync, File Transfer or Internet Sharing. When you choose net sharing it works instantly without any setting up on the laptop. An absolute godsend!

if i plug this into a macbook will the world divide itself by zero ?

Yep! There will be a fight to end all fights and the HD2 will stand gloriously untouched on the scrap metal that was your Macbook...;)

I'm guessing it will act just like a USB stick, nothing more nothing less.:)
