**HTC HD2 Thread**

Odd. Are you pressing "Yes" when it asks you to install? Stupid question I know, but I've installed all of those onto the HD2 out of the box, onto the latest official ROM and a custom ROM with no problems.

Nope

A lot of digging on the XDA forums seems to have found a successful solution: Corrupt files! :(

Seem to be something with Opera oddly. Grabbing cab files through IE or copying them from the PC makes them work fine :)

Hmm i've had that problem. When downloading in Opera there doesn't seem to be a progress bar - or any indication that it's started the download - but it does actually download part of the file - which i then later found and (obviously) couldn't use.

Annoying!

Hi Guys :)
I've ordered one of these on O2, and judging by this thread I should look to upgrade the rom as one of the first things I do.
I've read about HSPL on the XDA forums, but I'm having trouble finding info on what rom is good to use, and steps in how to install it.

Much appreciate any help with this :)

I fancy installing one of these new ROMs, do I need to HardSPL my device if its an unbranded, unlocked, generic unit? Cheers!

No idea! Try without the HardSPL first? No loss/damage if it doesn't work, especially if you're installing via ActiveSync.

I'd recommend Dutty's based on 1.66. Very stable, quick and frees up a lot of internal storage.

How to install HardSPL and flash the ROM (I'd recommend doing both via ActiveSync): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

Yes, as it isn't a network lock that requires it. The hardware is set by default to only allow official ROMs to be flashed, and HardSPL tricks it in to thinking that any ROM is an official one.

Ah thanks for the info.

Any particular advantages to upgrading the ROM? Pretty happy with the way the phone's set up and I dont have an issue with the responsiveness etc.

Obviously this depends on what ROM you get. Increased speed and phone storage are the main reasons, as well as removed and de-cluttered apps and in-built tweaks.

I have 16MB of free internal storage before I flashed to Dutty's (with no apps installed on the phone), now I've got 155MB.

Just got the phone delivered,. nice phone, was with T Mobile for 8 years, 2 phone contract, offered this phone as an "upgrade at £41.00 a month" went with virgin at £30.00. Well pleased so far, but I think it will take me a long time to learn all its uses.

Damn that SMS bug

Another happy HD2 user here other than one gripe. I'm on Vodafone and frustrated with lack of ROM updates from them to solve the "sticky" SMS bug.

Can any of you confirm that the offical HTC 1.66 ROM solves this issue or give me a cast-iron workaround. Currently having to ring people to see if they got the text  - not good for business.

I can go down the hard-spl route but I'd rather not (unless you can tell me how to backup the stock ROM)!

Cheers
Pablo
