**HTC HD2 Thread**

gents just a quick question,

T mobile are offering me 18 month @£30 and phone for £60.
with
free 0845...08..43.42..70..44.ect numbers
free internation calls to selected countries,
£180 credit.

or 24 month @£20 and phoen for £60
300 min a month
and thats it i think

are these deals any good?

and is the phone branded in any way from Tmobile? I don't want all these funky markings and shape changes they are know for doing to their touch diamond a few years back.

:mad: Im having a nightmare with my HD2.

It must freeze about 2-3 times per day and I end up turning it on and off at least 4-5 times a day because of how slow it responds to me writing a text. Buttons stop responding, the texts type whatever they feel like, random letters press 2 or 3 times instead of once.

Im really losing patience with it.

Im aware people Flash/cook/whatever the hell else you do with a "ROM", but I haven't a clue what that actually means. I just want my phone to work in the basic manner it should. I browse facebook, bbc sport, hotmail, ocuk, send a load of texts, answer phone calls. Thats about it. Thats all Im asking for and I haven't got a clue what to do about it now.

I know I could hard reset but whats the point in losing everything only to be in the same position 2 months down the line.

And another thing, I can't recieve MMS anymore either. I had a problem when I first had the phone, then updated the setting for virgin, now its stopped working again.
 
Does anyone know if you can connect an external bluetooth gps unit to this phone for use with sat nav software?

I've seen that the internal gps chip lags a bit and I know it would bug me if I couldn't use an external lag free gps unit!
 
strange question but...

did anyone else who got this phone NOT receive the pouch that you can put it in? I know a few friends who had the pouch in their packs but I didn't get one :(
 
Hi guys,

Is anyone else experiencing poor network coverage with the phone? I just changed from a fairly old Palm Treo to this and I'm finding that the coverage is awful. Is this a common problem?

I don't think that is a common problem with this phone, both my uncle and I have excellent coverage on our HD2's (but then we do live in London). In fact I even get a good 3g signal now in spots where my old n95 used to really struggle, did you change network when you got the HD2?

vodafone coverage is touch and go in my area. I cant get a signal on my hd2 at home however I can get one on older voda phones...
 
I spoke to HTC customer services re: no pouch with my HTC HD2 and it was confirmed that T-Mobile did not pay for the pouches option hence why no T-Mobile HD2 has a pouch but other providers (such as Vodafone) did include a pouch with theres. Says a lot about T-Mobile then and their penny pinching!!!
 
I'll be nearing the end of my contract next week with O2 with my iPhone.

Originally I was going to keep the iPhone and go for their SIM only iPhone Simplicity20, only they've changed the tarrif and it's no longer a lucrative deal for me.

I've been looking in shops for the HTC Desire, I believe the iPhone OS is absolutely amazing - so refined, pretty and well integrated. Android is the only other OS that can match this.

Now the HD2 keeps catching my eye as the hardware is good but it runs WinMo, which does put me off even though I admit this is from what others say and not experience. I would prefer it if the HD2 could run Android, which I know it can.

However, is there any negative impact on running Android ROM on HD2? Incompatability issues or anything?

Is WinMo really that bad? I test drove the HD2 in a shop and I thought the UI looked pretty sleek. Obviously you can't judge a phone by using it for 5 mins in a shop. Is it just WinMo's application support that lets it down?
 
My HD2 has been playing up recently too.

for some reason every night around 01:30am it creates a data network pfft!

I'm also sure I could play avi on there but some files aren't playing now

A straight port of Android to the HD2 is unlikely/nigh impossible, but a hacked port (ie some Android elements missing and filled gaps with WinMo) is more likely. Obviously this is going to be more buggy than Android or WinMo running as they should as complete OSs.

No :). I'd never used WinMo before but it's perfect, especially with the Sense UI on top of a lot of things (almost everything bar certain settings windows that you *may* want to tweak on initial setup). WinMo also has more apps than Android, just not all centralised. Again, this depends what you want or need - I use hardly any apps and I don't want or need my phone for games so I don't miss the Apple nor Android app stores.

Check your weather/MS MyPhone/other automatic update schedules? And just because a file's an .avi doesn't mean it uses the same codec as another (could by DivX, Xvid, Sorensen, etc). I'm unsure which codecs the HTC Player supports by default - Krooton?
 
seems a bit silly that you can't install codecs. yeah, it's not my weather as I switched that off. I used to have the connection connected all the time but because it's turning itself on it's annoying.

:confused: On what mobile phone can you? There's plenty of other applications out there that support other codecs.

Depends how you use it, but as with most smartphones, you get about a day of heavy usage.

Watching an hour of video takes me to 78%, listening to an hour of music takes me to 87%.

The beauty is in that you can charge it anywhere there is a computer, and a micro-usb to usb cable is pretty easy to cart around.
 
My phone has now survived for almost 1% every hour - connected to 3G and texting during the day. Connected to wifi all evenings and listening to a bit of music.

That said dispite i never feel that i have much more time to do my else with it others seems to have time to text/surf/listen more than there is hours in the day :P

So at least a days "heavy usage" would be the least.
