HTC Touch Pro

I'm thinking of picking this phone up next week over say an iPhone - what do you guys reckon? Like the fact it has a qwerty keyboard

jamief if you get it directly from orange(web, phone or orange store) then you have this thing called best plan where they review your usage over 6months and suggest the most suitable price plan for you.

Thanks mate. I'm still in two minds as to which phone to get - I think I'll go for the Xperia - £35 month + £30 for the phone via mobiles.co.uk and £40 cashback. Not a bad deal, and I believe I can switch unlimited texts -> unlimited web after 1 month too?

thats the 1 I've got my eye on also, the cpw guy I ask said you can switch it afer the 1st month. the guy in the o2 store said you can change boltons every 3 months so not too sure what the deal is, can switch after the 1st month or have to wait till the 3rd month.

I'm in more than 2 minds as to which phone to get, also looking at the g1, touch hd & xperia.

I do like the G1, but I think we'll see much much better Android handsets in 6-12 months. The Touch HD is nice too, but I'm not sure how much it'll be or when it's available....

It's definatly better than the iphone. It's only real competitors will be things like the G1 (ironically another HTC phone), the iphone doesn't have the flexibility of the Pro and is Lacking a lot of features.

according to what I've read the touch hd is out 'early november'(no dates yet), £80 on the £40/month on orange only till 2009(no mention on when it 2009 this exclusive deal lasts).

I'm also tempted to get the omnia on a 12month contract as I've found it for free on t-mobile £30/month contract from beepy, only thing stopping me is I've not heard of them plus this review site some one linked for me doesn't make it sound promising(although only user reviews)

how is this better than the omnia? does it have more ram? better cpu?

Considerably higher res screen and a standard mini-usb connector are the 2 main reasons why I would choose the Touch pro over the Omnia, plus I love qwerty keyboards.

The Omnia has a proprietary usb connector, so you cannot charge it with a standard usb to mini-usb cable like most people have.

Exactly, the keyboard and screen push it a level above the omnia before you even start considering things like the mini-usb.

Tough one, I just bought an iPhone and can say that the interface is amazing.

a lot easier to get along with than Windows mobile (having been a user for 3 years).

Different strokes for different folks.

Hmm, what one... Touch Pro or HD?

I'd say that mainly depends on your preference, the Pro is a very good phone, the HD probably will be.

Pro Pro's:-
Available now
QWERTY KB

Con's
Essentially just limited to Voda at the moment.

HD Pro's :-
3.5mm socket.
even higher rez screen ( and trust me the Pro screen is EXCELLENT, I think the HD screen is just the same Dot Pitch but is longer so higher overall rez but same legbility as the Pro).

Con's
Orange only initally.
Not available.
No QWERTY.

Want QWERTY - get Pro.
Want bigger screen - Get HD ( not forgetting that the Pro screen is the best currently available till the HD appears ).

Thanks for that little comparison....suppose I'll be getting the HD pro then.

If I did do you think orange would be able to offer me a better deal than £80 for the phone and £40 p/m. I've been with them for over 7 years but never really haggled with their sales department, so don't know how flexible they are.

billy unless you're a high spend customer then forget it, I tried several times with the retention department for the omnia but they wouldn't budge over the no lower then £110 on the racoon 35(£30/month online price, normnal £35/month) even tho I've read people on here saying they got it for free through on £30/month through orange(told orange this but they kept giving me the line that it wouldn't have been orange but the cpw etc).

I like the HD but don't think I'll be going back on an orange contract(currently on the orange sim only racoon 15(£15/month) till I decide what phone to get and find a new job. it should be out on O2 etc by then).
