another post to confirm the visible improvements in image quality with RenderMultiplier increased. Im talking about my experiences with the HTC Vive here.
Tweaked the config for Dirt Rally and Assetto Corsa and its a huge improvement. Dirt rally suffers more from the increase in terms of taxing your setup. I have a GTX980ti G1 gaming at stock and tbh I struggled to get a good compromise in render multiplier and image quality in Dirt Rally, to the point where I don't play it in VR, the hairpins or acute corners making me feel queasy after a while whilst looking sideways-fwd view is ok though.
Assetto Corsa was sooo much better with render Multiplier at 2.5 and makes the game far more playable imo.
Warthunder has been a struggle too. Initially failed to impress then I made a few changes which resulted in something half playable at the expense of feeling ill after a fairly frantic arcade dogfight.
I'm a big fan of cockpit/simulation style games be they driving or flying or subs etc. and I had so much hope for VR in this regard. (HMS Malruken in VR please!) I think though that the tech isn't here yet. TrackIR has its drawbacks, but frankly I think I'll go back to trackIR and a decent resolution screen. Unless that is people can help with my settings for VR.
Overall, I have mixed feelings with my Vive. The initial experience throwing sticks for and rubbing the robot dogs tummy on the top of a mountain was frankly amazing. (own up, who else tried throwing the stick off the cliff to see if the dog would follow?) The lab castle defence bow shooter is good too. However, I find myself looking at the VR games list and can't find a title that grabs my attention to the point where I feel compelled to buy it. The trouble with this is that I do see the appeal of room scale vr but am really unable to experience it to its best effect.
