HTC Vive

Sorry if this has been covered before. Can anyone recommend 15 meter cables so I can use my Vive in another room? If it's even possible at that distance.

Wait for wireless device... 15m your gonna have troubles..... Hassle moving lighthouses etc... Think of somewhere close to put PC, slap Mrs if need be

I suspect the wireless device (correct me if I'm wrong), will still require the receiver to be within visual range of the headset. So you will still need long cables from the PC to the area your playing in.

It's already a hassle for me to setup in the current room. Involves moving a sofa, clearing up stuff off the floor then setting up the lighthouses.

The living room has a nice big clear area so I'm wanting to use that without having to shift the PC.

Yes there are long active cables that work, i found a bunch of links on reddit, will post up later when i get s chance on a computer

Thanks, that would be useful. I did see a list on Reddit but most the cables were only up to 10m. The few over that people said didn't work.

I'm going to measure again, might be able to cut it down to 12-13m as when I first measure I did it rather poorly :p

I read somewhere that there was a wireless device coming this year for the Vive, has there been anything about that? Removing the wires form the headset would be good.

I think i'm joining you guys :)

Even though Home has my money from my DK2 purchases, and probable exclusives down the line, i dont like Facebooks business practices. and i'm banking on Valve having created superior tracking tech which enables better third party peripherals, while also not being ********

I will probably end up with both later on, but for the time being...

Quick question - does HLVR work with the Vive easily?

haven't been following for quite sometime, but i came across a piece of news i don't know if it was mentioned yet.
the 1 year exclusivity deal between Valve and HTC is coming to an end soon, so more manufacturer could use valve IP to make their own VR Headsets, that means steam VR library of tools, the wands, and lighthouses tech, etc.
first to jump on the wagon is LG, and im sure others will follow(hopefully Samsung)
this will lead to newer gen headsets, with better screen res/refresh, better builds, and especialy cheaper ones.
heck even oculus can use it :D

This can only be a good thing (right?).
I don't want to have to think about competitors but everyone pushng for my business should drive prices down and/or drive innovation.
