She is just a human being and is trying to take some kind of personal responsibility for what is clearly a problem with wider systems in the company.

And really, all we are missing is a fancy toy. This isn't a life saving device that people NEEDED this week either. Its a few days late. Its not like they are going to take our money and run.

To be clear, I think the HTC top brass have fronted up pretty well, it's the CS reps that have sucked, so I don't think either the main guy (Daniel?) or this woman deserve too much flack, they could quite easily have had a Twitter blackout but chose not to.

I definitely understand the frustration from people who ordered early yet still don't have anything to show for it, but IMO, the fault lies at Digital River's door.

Absolutely, i couldn't agree more, i have a vive on pre-order too, i'm not fussed about it being delayed by a few days or even a week or two, like everyone I'd like it yesterday. the problem is that we live in an era of next day everything, people have lost what it means to have patience, when i was growing up we had to write letters to people , post them, doing my homework required a trip to the library. Mail order games and parts took weeks to arrive.
These days people panic when the internet plays up for an hour......

This is very much true, but HTC didn't do a good job of managing expectations until the last couple of days. All the 'wave 1/2' talk, tweets about 'Vives start arriving on the 5th' and CCs having holds on them from 1st April, lead people to think a lot of Vives would be shipped 1 day and before and that clearly isn't the case. I don't believe there's 3,000 consumer Vives out there yet.

Personally I've had a CC hold since 1st and yet looking at the rate of shipping I don't expect to see mine shipped for at least a week.
 
Thinking about ordering one, on the page it says "Pre-orders will start shipping May 2016" So does that include mine or will it come at a later date like how the oculus has different dates depending on what your order number is?

Sounds great, after watching the valve trailer for the HTC Vive it made me sway from the Oculus, i'm just getting a refund on the Rift right now as my OR was suppose to come in May aswel so win win!

Do you get charged right away or when it's shipped?

If you pay with paypal you get charged now, and with CC you will be charged on shipping.

I think it's absolutely fair. Yeah it might not be a life saving device that people needs, but then what else do you own that is indeed wanted and not needed. HTC have acted totally irresponsible. They've even lied. I myself have been lied to. Twice I've been promised a call back and I've not received a call. Now I can see why HTC have only one percent of the phone market, even though their phones aren't bad quality. It's the service backup that's shoddy.
 
Have you had any further correspondence from HTC? My last e-mail was the 'processing' e-mail back on 26th March.
 
I've just had an interesting conversation with Michael from HTC. He basically said he can't promise me a call back from the ecomm dept. as it's in a different country. If I told that to a customer at work, I'd be sacked or in deep trouble.

I think you missed the point. She's not working behind the desk of an easyjet flight that just got cancelled. She's responding to text on a screen. I've had far worse jobs than that.

If she feels she could only have 3 hours sleep because her job depended on it, then that is wrong. Is that the case? Why you even know that - is she telling people on Twitter?
