I decided to build myself a new htpc

Not thought of any sort of budget yet

I do like the silverstone lascala l17 case plenty of room

I haven't built any pcs in a long time

I would like to be able to play 3d blu ray movies to my tv

Not sure what I need to do this

Must be quick not to loud output full 1080p also full lossless audio to my amp

Also I would like to get a good few years out of it

Not decided on the os win 7 or 8

Would want ssd drive boot quick

I've already got a spare hd 2tb

No keyboard or mouse needed
Any help please

I'd go for windows 7 over 8, as its better supported for HTPC duties & has Windows Media Center included (Windows 8 does not). Though if you go for windows 8 you may be better off using Mediaportal or XMBC as free alternatives. (just for starters). The easiest way for blue ray playback IMO is to buy dedicated software (Avoid Cyberlink like the plague though, most unstable software i've ever used) I'm not really an expert on setting up HTPC's though (I havent set mine up properly, I don't have the time or patience these days), there are plenty of guides available on the internet or start a thread in the Home Cinema forum.

Thanks for the reply

I'm just don't seem to understand the 3d

Does a pc use software to decode the 3d or is it hardware

Ps I just visited your link you had home cinema a bit longer than me

I got mine in 1989 but my father stated a few years before me

With the Akai video recorder

Thanks Colin
