Seems the cars safety cell has just been destroyed by the impact.

Not uncommon in Indycar and NASCAR. usually something like 36 on Bristol and that's 0.5 mile with 36degree banking!

One of the more impressive crashes I've seen.

Looks like two cars triggered most of the crashes.

There's a red car which tried to move down, collided and took out three other cars.

Then a white car behind turns sideways and takes out about another six cars as they run into him.
