Just flooding and trees falling from the sounds of it. I'm going to bed. Yawn. From the hype I was expecting the empire state building to snap.

do you know Aesop's fable of the Boy who cried wolf?
sure it's a storm, people should take precautions. but this is not the first storm to hit the US east coast. this is completely being blown out of proportion by media to almost hysterical level. the picture in OP just illustrates this
stop drinking the kool aid. it makes for entertaining and sensational news, but let's keep it real.

what were you saying again?![]()

much ado about nothing.
i was living in boston during the so called "perfect storm" back in early 90s and it wasn't bad on land. maybe different story for ppl out at sea.
Sandy was classed as a cat 1 hurricane and has been downgraded to a storm. max wind speed is 85mph now and will probably decrease before it hits land. hardly the end of the world.
sure some beach front property may see a surge, some old tree branches may fall to the ground; but they are going nuts in US and overhyping this. election is around the corner, and gov wants to look like it's more prepared than katrina. big difference is that New Orleans is below sea level - NY is not
spare me your diatribe. This storm was downgraded on saturday already http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/oct/27/hurricane-sandy-regains-strength?newsfeed=true. then storm regained hurricane cat 1 strength and it is expected to be downgraded again.
FYI Hurricane Irene in 2011 was a Cat 3 then downgraded to Cat 1 when it hit US eastern shore and the hype wasnt as big as this one.
I actually lived through a stronger hurricane in Long Island sound NY back in 1985 - Gloria which was a Cat 3 and even stepped outside in the eye of the storm. sure there was a surge, branches fell, some damage was done to property, some beach houses too close to the waterfront even were gobled up, even a few recorded deaths, but it wasn't the end of the world.
the storm will pass, damage will be done and it will be forgotten before Christmas shopping season begins![]()

. hardly the disaster/tragedy we saw in Japan not so long agoseems you have selective memory
saying that this was completely overhyped. which it is. superstorm, monster storm, biggest storm in history lol even Irene wasnt this hyped up.
Mississippi river gets bigger floods. hardly the disaster/tragedy we saw in Japan not so long ago
What's it like where you are? Friends of mine in NJ are saying its pretty grim where they are (outside Atlantic City somewhere) with no power and quite a lot of flooding.....
