** Hyper X cloud II Headsets **

This headset arrived for me today and when connected I hear a constant hissing sound. It's only quiet but it is constant. My previous HyperX Cloud 1 didn't have any hissing sound but that was a 3.5mm connection.

Is this something to do with it being driven by a USB? How can I connect the cloud 2 to the normal 3.5mm jacks in my PC?

Yeah literally all of them. I really don't think it's a fault with the headset though I think it's purely because it's been driven by USB and USB headsets are known to hiss like this.

Kinda regret the purchase now if I'm honest as the hiss is so annoying especially since coming from a silent headset. If I can connect to normal 3.5mm that would be fine but I'm not sure which cables I'd need to buy.

Strange they don't include the splitter - they should still work as headphones just not with mic without the splitter.

I would return it as the HXC II's on my desk as I type this don't hiss they don't hiss via USB through my keyboard let alone through my case.

RJK can confirm there is nothing but silence from them

have you tried the hxc I in the USB controller to establish if it's the USB or the headphone?

But by 3.5mm there isn't any hiss what so ever so I'm not to sure.

Just tried the Hyperx 1 in the USB and there is a hiss in the Hyperx1 by USB also.

and you're not playing any music it's literally silent and you just get a hiss?

If so the USB unit is faulty as the pair I have here don't hiss and I'm not just saying that.

Eitherway it's upto you you can have a refund or a replacement.

Are you using USB 2 or 3 Tom?

The headset is connected in a USB 2 port but I have also tried a USB 3 port just to see.

I've tried literally every USB port on my PC and I've also tried the USB port on my monitor but get the same result. :(

It is only a quiet hissing noise but it's loud enough to be distracting.

You can't notice it when sound is playing through the actual headset but when there isn't sound it' just annoying.

Not sure what to do now.

Yeah mate no music and I can still hear the hiss.

I would want a replacement, certainly not looking for a refund as the headset is great otherwise. The mic is a very nice improvement from the first Hyperx Cloud.

How can I get a replacement though? I do live in Stoke but don't have facility to get to the OcUK store, do I need to send them back to you guys and start an RMA? Never done this before.

What's your motherboard? Are there any equalizer settings you can check out?

Does it do the same if you remove the mic? Long shot but still.....

Sounds like it could be a gain settings which is too high and causing the hiss......does it do the same on other PC/laptops?

send em back mate tell the guys in CS I've told you to send them back.

I've literally just plugged these in not tweaked any gain settings nothing. I'll be posting a review of them tomorrow.

Motherboard is a Z87-G43 with latest audio drivers installed. Yeah hiss is still there with the mic removed, tried on my other PC and it's exactly the same. Seems to be something directly with the USB as connecting by 3.5mm is perfect.

yeah that's the fastest way to do it. Mine don't do it I know the noise you're talking of and it would annoy me too. I'll ask kingston what their stance on it is if someone else reports a similar problem if it's just you we'll assume it's faulty.

I mean it could be your system over volting usb's or not grounding properly but I don't know how we would test that.

Yeah it's a strange issue but I thought USB headsets were known to hiss. Not to sure though since yours is perfect.

Also tested it in my other PC and had the exact same result so not sure if it's PC related or not. Looks like it's something to do with the headsets USB as connecting by 3.5mm is perfect but then I have no mic.

It's frustrating because the headset is a really nice piece of kit!

yeah i know I'll save my comments for my review :)

It's not a common feature for USB it's a common fault for powered units that aren't well made. That said mine is fine so perhaps it's a one off. Or perhaps I have the one off.
