** Hyper X cloud II Headsets **

Hello, first time poster.

I didn't meant to necro this thread. This is one of the few threads that appeared on google when I was looking for a solution to the hissing sound.

I bought the hyper x cloud 2 headset from Alternate here in belgium. I can hear a constant hissing sound from the headphone with the usb. I connecting it to different usb ports, hissing sound still remains. The headset is installed correctly according to the manual. I got in touch with one of the technical assistant at Kingston Technology. He mentioned that it was indeed a known issue. He proposed me a hyper x cloud 1 and an 32gb usb drive in exchange for the hyper x cloud 2 (very kind) or I could wait for a fix for the soundcard to come out. I do not know what to do at this point. I bought 2 different headset. I returned one cause it was uncomfortable (g430). Right now im tempting to return this one exchange for hyper x cloud 1 and usb storage drive. I've contacted them again and ask them about the fix that's coming out. I'm not really in a hurry right now, but the earpads on my current headset (creative sigma 3d) are wearing off bit by bit. They've become really uncomfy for prelonged gaming sessions.

Returning the headset to the vendor was not an option, cause according to them the headset seemed to be working fine, they did not hear the hissing noise.

So my question to you (community) is: Have u seen any solution to this issue? What do you guys think of the offer from Kingston?

I hope you understand my frustration and I'm sorry for writing this wall of text.

Kind regards
__________

This headset arrived for me today and when connected I hear a constant hissing sound. It's only quiet but it is constant. My previous HyperX Cloud 1 didn't have any hissing sound but that was a 3.5mm connection.

Is this something to do with it being driven by a USB? How can I connect the cloud 2 to the normal 3.5mm jacks in my PC?

Did you manage to get your replacement and did it fix the hissing sound ?

Hi there, and welcome to the forum!

I'm also experiencing a slight hissing sound from mine, but to be honest its so minor that I didn't feel it warranted a replacement. The sound quality isn't as good as the Razer Carcharias I used to have, but that's subjective. The rest of the package is pretty good.

Received mine last week and have since tried on multiple PCs and different USB ports after reading this thread and have not noticed any kind of hissing.

Over all I'm very impressed with the build and sound quality of the headset :)

The only issue I have is when I turn off my PC the red LED's on the dac stay illuminated. Is there a fix for this other than unplugging the headset every time?

Pretty sure this is a setting on the mobo, I had the same thing with the LED lights on my keyboard - unfortunately I can't remember exactly what I changed but if you google for the keyboard led lights when powered off you should get to the bottom of it :)

Got these today, a tad disappointed, but probably my own fault for not investigating further before I buy. They have a few issues, that imo really suck. Might return them.

1. If you want to use your soundcard and not the usb, the cable is 1 metre. Simply not long enough for me.

2. If you use your soundcard the mic doesn't work, unless you have some audio/mic all in one 3.5mm input (does such a thing exist on soundcards?)

3. I friggin hate pointless LEDs, the usb box has a bright red one, that you can't turn off.

They do sound good though.

^^ You can get adapters that split 4 pole 3.5mm to 2x 3 pole 3.5mm jacks, is a bit silly Kingston doesn't include one though.

Sounds like you should have gone for the previous version. Exactly the same but 3.5mm jack instead of the usb dac. Cheaper too :p

Sorry for bumping this thread again. I wanted to update the static noise problem I had.

I got in touch with one of the technical assistant from Kingston UK. They will ship me a new USB soundcard very soon.

For anyone else that is experiencing the problem, I'd say try to contact Kingston support. They're really helpful and friendly when it comes to solving this situation.

I got the new usb dongle via Royal Mail, nothing fixed. I can still hear the static noise when playing quiet ambient songs or playing songs on low volume. Even when there's no media playing in the background, I can still hear static noise. If I turn the volume higher when listening to music, the static noise is obviously masked by the loud music. I doubt the situation is any different when playing games with these headsets.

I no longer have interest in this hardware and I might just throw it away for a cheap price. It's not worth the hassle anymore, I'm tired wasting my free time on this crap. I might just get a cheap functioning headset or something..who knows.

I really wonder how this got through the Q&A.

This is why I never buy USB, you never know if its going to cause static.
My old turtle beachs with USB for power has static, nothing I can do about it.
have the 3.5mm connection Hyper X headset right now, love it.

Lol..I love how they market this kind of stuff....it doesn't work.

Actually it does, I was able to almost visualise exactly where the enemy was in COD4 being able to wallbang opponents before they even come around a corner. This wouldn't be possible without sound and a good headset.

I'm sorry you've had this experience I don't think it detracts away from the success of the product that we can see as the reseller. I do however totally understand how you are fed up and wish to waste no more time on it.

Regrettably as you didn't buy it from us I Can't really offer a solution to your problem.
